I spend a lot of time on my knees reaching the areas that I don't have sufficient space around :) I try to keep the sink and fridge somewhat available while basting.... when I am pinning, I am on my knees in the middle of the quilt. Be gentle as you move from one place to the next, and you should be good!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16888904401955557320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2695658711837141737.post-58959902951554297892010-05-12T12:00:49.258-06:002010-05-12T12:00:49.258-06:00question ~ it doesn't look like you have enoug...question ~ it doesn't look like you have enough space to get around your quilt? how does that work? or maybe the floor space is bigger than it looks..... or, maybe, you are really skinny :-)

looking forward to the quilt festival!!the mommahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06442659609532682275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2695658711837141737.post-28596295029490061192010-05-12T09:15:59.177-06:002010-05-12T09:15:59.177-06:00Thanks for the tutorial. Using the walking foot helps with straight lines, and starting near the middle when free-motion quilting helps then the puckers work their way out as you quilt.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16888904401955557320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2695658711837141737.post-62772045030620567812010-05-12T07:58:00.665-06:002010-05-12T07:58:00.665-06:00Super helpful, Amy. I wish I could remember where I learned that one....nope, I can't. But it's served me well.Alliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06877277586697593998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2695658711837141737.post-30616374550962586002010-05-11T20:24:25.811-06:002010-05-11T20:24:25.811-06:00This is fascinating to me because I've always ...This is fascinating to me because I've always put my quilts onto a frame, well, until this winter when I just recovered the top of a favorite quilt of my girls and did in on the living room floor...yikes! I have only ever quilted one small wallhanging on my machine, and at the last minute I panicked that I'd get puckers and used spray baste along with the pins. How do you prevent puckering?Melissahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00872868812325856798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2695658711837141737.post-3373264877392819042010-05-11T18:04:20.710-06:002010-05-11T18:04:20.710-06:00You missed a need for when you pin baste on the fl...You missed a need for when you pin baste on the floor -- good knees and the ability to get up! :-D

Thanks for posting this.
