Simplicity

I've been working on a simple project, and finished the top up last night. I love that this is another project straight from my sketchbook - I also love the Wonderland fabrics! So fun and bright :)

Current Project -- Back to Basics

I need to get some batting for it, hopefully today, and I think the quilting will really make this quilt. I am developing my personal philosophy of quilting -- Quilts do not to be a complicated pattern to be a beautiful and well loved quilt. I do love lots of complicated patterns, like this, but realize that I would rather be able to finish it than work on it for a year :)

What sort of quilts are your favorite? I have been exposed to so many beauties with our recent festival - truly awed by what some of you are able to accomplish . . . maybe when I don't have so many little people around :)

Ooh - and did you see the swap over here??? I've got enough on my plate for now but I know some of you are very interested in swapping :) Sign-ups are open until May 4th!

    Absolutely! Babies don't care if quilts are complicated, and they probably actually like the simple ones better.

    Wow! Amazing... I actually don't think it's that simple! I LOVE THIS though....Yeah the quilting will make this quilt. What does the back look like? I'm interested to see.... keep posting cause I LOVE LOVE LOVE your work!!!

    Thanks again for the online quilt festival. I have seen so many gorgeous quilts and talented artists through this. I have had hits on my blog from all over the world, which thrilled me, especially as I am pretty new to blogging.

    Today I received my prize from Fabric Supplies, a group of great fabrics. I went to their Etsy store and ordered some fabric, which also arrived today. So I can testify as to their service.

    Very cute Wonderland quilt, Amy! I love simple quilts too. I think that sometimes my favorites are just plain squares! But I also have a weak spot for log cabins, wonky and otherwise. I enjoy making them and looking at them.

    Lovely, lovely! I agree, sometimes a simple pattern can look just as incredible as a complicated one, especially with great fabrics. And, well, then you actually have a shot at finishing them in a reasonable amount of time. :-)

    Super cute Amy. I LOVE the MOMO fabric and we didn't get it at the shop, so I am on the lookout. I am a huge fan of the prints you have, a great combo. Have you ever thought of publishing some of your patterns?? You're on a roll:)

    I'm with you - I think a lot of times, the simpler the better. With all of the gorgeous fabrics out there it's a shame to not showcase them in designs that hide their beauty. You know?

    Quilts don't have to be complicated to be beautiful. I think simple designs are great for the large pattern fabrics that are popular at the momment. I look forward to seeing it quilted.

    My quilting philosophy? I've never thought about it. But I do emphasize personal creativity - whether that's in fabric choices in an existing pattern or coming up with something entirely on your own.

    I have been thinking about a style - whether I have one or not? I fear that I do and I kind of wish I didn't. I don't want to be pigeonholed. Time to try something new!
