I almost forgot to tell you --
I have had the privilege of working with Windham's Gees Bend collection of hand dyed solid fabrics! They are SO pretty, so much more than the color swatches online show. The slight variations in the fabric is really nice and adds depth to my projects!
The quality of fabric is great too, nice weight and feel in my hand. Windham highly encourages a pre-washing in cold water and a color catcher in the wash after you have finished your quilt.
After a quick google search I found the following retailers selling the fabrics, or kits -
Sew, Mama, Sew
Fabric.com
eQuilter.com
If you are a shop owner and have the fabrics in stock leave a comment letting us know! I will add you to the list :)
If you haven't entered yet, there's still time to enter to win a Moda Bake Shop Sampler in yesterday's post!
Good Luck ~

Hi there! Quilted Threads in Henniker, NH has the Windham Gees Bend fabrics and quilt kits, and you're right, they are divine! They also have the four reproduction quilts hanging in their quilt gallery for another week or so before they head on to their next location. They are spectacular in person, well worth the visit!
ReplyDeleteThese look great! I have a hard time spending the same amount for solids as I do for printed fabrics, although if I start using these as design features maybe my attitudes will change.
ReplyDeleteThose do look delicious! I don't like solid because they look flat and have no depth but those look wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI loves these ladies, their stories and all the quilts. I was able to see the exhibit with my daughter when we lived in WI. We traveled all the way to Milwaukee to see the collection. Turly amazing!
ReplyDeleteI read about these fabrics, but haven't seen them in person or heard anyone using them. I like the colors, which look a bit different from other solids I've seen. I'm glad to hear what you thought of these beauties.
ReplyDeleteI bought two different Gees Bend kits at Hancocks of Paducah. They came in a little muslin bag. I am looking forward to starting them, but I have too many things on my plate until after Christmas (one of which is a new pug puppy who soaks up lots of my sewing time). The colors are luscious, and the fabric feels good. I haven't prewashed yet though.
ReplyDeleteI have just started selling my own solid dyed fabric - not exactly the same quality since it is very difficult and expensive to get good quality cotton.
ReplyDeleteSo, what did you make with these lovely solids Amy? They are wonderful.
ReplyDeletethey're gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHand dyed fabric is always so rich. When do we get to see what you made?
ReplyDeleteVery yummy!
ReplyDeletewow! these fabrics are gorgeous! thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThe fabrics are amazing! We have had such a non Texas winter and we really need some GREEN to chase the winter doldrums away. The giveaway is exciting. Thanx so much for all your work.
