  1. My husband gave me a cute heart-shaped ring with my birthstone on our first Valentine's day . . . way back when we were 16! (We were dating then, not married, of course!)

The Chirp line is SO cute! Love it!

  2. That's easy! My husband and I had only been going out for 6 weeks on our first Valentine's and he bought me a new walkman. Hardly romantic but he'd heard me mention in passing that mine was broken and had been thoughful enough to buy me a new one. He *listened* to me - and I fell in love with him (we've been married 11 years in the summer)

  3. After my husband and I had our children, my mom gave me a bracelet that that said MOM and XOXO. I love that bracelet!

  4. Oh I love the green Chirp! :-) I used to make a special day of Valentine's when the kids were small with heart cookies, special dinner, tablecloth etc. And I made DD dresses from heart fabrics~ when she was a toddler heart pj's! :-)

  5. Those are all cute! Who doesn't love a sweet little bird! If I win, it will be a great Valentine's day gift.

Nick and I got engaged over Valentine's/Pres. Day weekend - that was a pretty awesome gift. But really, we have declared Valentine's day a card holiday - I have some of the sweetest notes and cards from him over the last 6 years. Those are the best gifts.

  6. Oh....I LOVE the green chirp...I have been drooling over it ever since I saw it in a quilt shop catalog...
One year, DH gave me tickets for the two of us to fly to Chicago for the weekend... I was stunned to say the least. We had such a great time bar hopping and seeing the sights..

  7. I am a chocoholic so I like it when my husband surprises me with fancy chocolates that I would not buy for myself.

  10. This is adorable!

My husband and I rarely celebrate Valentine's Day. We're usually either too broke or too wrapped up in the kids' activities, but this year he gave me the new version of Photoshop Elements - early. I love it when he thinks about my hobbies and gets me something related to that because even though flowers and chocolate are awesome, hobby stuff is what I really want.

Thanks for the chance to win!

  13. Valentine's Day, eh?
I think the best gift (and I get it every year)is the most personal and heartfelt card from my hubby.
He's so tender and sincere, it always melts my heart :)

  14. The best Valentine's gift I got from my husband was coming to the mutual decision that Valentine's would be our low key dinner night :) Every year we find a local/small/unassuming place to eat at and it's usually very quiet. We love it :)

  15. my favorite valentine's gift given was a handmade heart wall sculpture that i gave to my husband. it's hard to describe, but it was made from reclaimed barn wood, reclaimed copper that edged the heart and made really cool wings at the top. there was also a "U" in the middle of the wood heart made from the copper so it read "love you" from symbols.

i gave it to my husband for our first valentine's day as a married couple (less than 2 weeks after the wedding), but i had bought it several years before, waiting for the perfect time to give it to him. i always knew i'd marry him.

  17. awesome giveaway!!! we don't do anything extravagant for valentines day so there is not a lot of gift exchanging, but i would say one of the best gifts recently was the tickets to a concert my husband got me to go see the swell season in NYC.

  18. The best Valentine's gift my husband gave me was back when we were dating. He gave me a card with a really nice love poem in it. I think he also gave me flowers that year.

  19. Before we were married, my DH gave mailed me a saffire necklace and a teddy bear (I was in college at the time). Unfortunately, UPS called me before it arrived and said it was jewelry. But I was so confused by the call, I was still surprised when it arrived. :)

  20. Best gift was when we were on a budget so instead of a present, he hid notes and peanut butter cups all over the house. I kept finding them for months afterwards.

  22. After losing two children during the second trimester and trying for 5 years, we got pregnant on Valentines! My sweet husband had taken me to a lovely hotel for the night. After sending me off to have a massage, he took me to dinner at a French restaurant, then back to the hotel. My 12 year old son is the result!

  23. My favorite thing to get on Valentines Day is a card from my husband, he always writes the sweetest things and then if I am having a bad day, I can go back and read them again.

  24. The best Valentines Day for me was in 1977.
It was the day that my Son arrived from
Korea, and even after all this time we
celebrate that day as his birthday also. He
arrived at 5:30 at the age of 5 months
and has been the best gift anyone could
every have gotten. We gave him the
name of Nahan, which means Gift of God,
which says it all. After waiting a long time
to have a family our prayers were answered.

  25. He gave me some snazzy bling. While traveling out west with the family in the Black HIlls area, I so wanted some black hills gold esp the pink gold; but with six kids and vacationing, the budget was too tight. Although it is from a local jeweler, he bought me a beautiful set of earrings/necklace with pink gold from the black hills....I LOVE him!

  26. That's an easy one! My husband proposed on Valentine's Day, so, of course, my engagement ring was the best gift I ever received. : )

  27. I love Valentine's day! My best present is undeniably my youngest son .... who was born on February 13th and I got to spend a lovely V-day gazing at him while in the hospital.

The best present I've given was just this year. I made my boyfriend an awesine quilt and it totally blew him away!

    ReplyDelete
  28. My fiance and I don't really care much for Valentine's Day (why do you need a made-up "holiday" to show how much you love and appreciate someone?!), so we never do anything for it. The best gift I've received, however, was just a couple weeks ago when my fiance planned a weekend getaway for us to Niagara Falls all on his own, for my birthday and our 5-year dating anniversary. The best gift I've ever given is a quilt I made for my grandmother this past Christmas, she loved it so much she cried when she first saw it!

Thank you so much for the giveaway!!

  29. my favourite present was a surprise diamond ring from my husband for the birth of our firstborn AND my 30th birthday, which happened to be a day before the birth of our son. (I seem to get kids for my birthdays, our third child, a girl was born the day before my 36th birthday :-) )
he had to run around and organise a lot of things to get the ring, and I never expected one, and just couldn't believe my eyes when he took it from his pocket in the hospital and put it on my finger - lovely memories ever since :-)

  31. My husband sent me roses from Vietnam (yes, I know that was YEARS ago!!). The big surprise was that we did not hear from the boys in Vietnam on a regular basis, so it was a TOTAL surprise and sooooo sweet!

    ReplyDelete
  32. We always just do cards and small gifts for Valentines, but my husband is a great gift giver for birthdays and Christmas. My favorite gift received was from this past year, he gave me a super long strand of pearls that I've been wanting. Total surprise!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Such cute fabric - I hadn't seen it before! Valentine's day isn't a huge gift-giving holiday for me and the fiancee. However, one year, when I dealing with some medical issues and feeling awful, he sweetly trekked across Boston through downpours to pick up dinner and bring it for us to share with a movie night in on Valentine's Day.

    ReplyDelete
  34. My best ever Valentines gift was a weekend away at the beach. I try and downplay the 14th of February because my husbands birthday is the 13th. I dont want to overshadow his day!

    ReplyDelete
  35. This years gift was pretty nice..he gave to me a little early. I finally found a local sewing class. He suprised me with a tool case and all kinds of stuff to go with it...a seam ripper 2 pairs of scissors, needles for my machine tape measure thread and a new rotary cutter with a big cutting mat. I am probably missing something the tool box was packed full....he said no one helped him he looked in a book at the craft place and got all the start up supplies. I loved it..

    ReplyDelete
  36. The best gift I've ever gotten for Valentine's Day happened on Valentine's Day 9 years before I was born. That is the day my husband entered the world.

    ReplyDelete
  37. On our first cruise ( A quilting cruise!!) my husband knew I wanted a pair of diamond hoop earrings. after looking and looking, I found nothing except I did find a blue diamond necklace. The earrings to match just put the price over the top of what we could afford so I just got the necklace. The next night while I was sewing during the "open" sewing he walked in with a bag. ALL the other cruise ladies were there. Anyhow, he gave me the earrings to match the necklace...because he won enough money at the on board casino to buy them. I was in TOTAL shock. I NEVER expected we could afford them. Heck I was sewing, I didn't know he went to the casino. All the ladies just swooned over my husband and his thoughtfulness...I was in shock. So that was probably the best surprise he's given me so far.

  38. I don't get traditional "gifts" at Valentine's day, but last year my boyfriend took me to this awesome tiny restaurant and let me order every single thing I wanted to taste. It was so fun and fancy! This year he's taking me to see one of my favorite bands ever, missing one of his favorites as a result. He's pretty good at Valentine's day.

    ReplyDelete
  39. My husband and I are both bad with gifts but the best thing he ever did for me is the first Valentine's Day we were married he took me to a bed and breakfast and a nice dinner.

    ReplyDelete
  40. My husband got me a diamond pendant necklace, very small, but very beautiful, our first anniversary while we were still in college, I was shocked. The Chirp line is darling!

  42. With busy lives and kids we usually down play Valentines Day and gifts for one another.
My husband who is in the Air Force, was sent to Haiti almost 3 weeks ago with just a few hours notice.
He is amazing though, and managed to hide a card in one of the kitchen cupboards for me. I haven't opened it yet, but it already means so much.

    ReplyDelete
  43. My sewing machine was one of the best gifts I ever received followed closely by my longarm Love the Chirp fabric!

  44. last year, for our first married valentine's day, my husband covered a box in hearts and wrote out a couple dozen things he loves about me. it was very sweet. :)

  45. I've never gotten anything spectacular as a Valentine's day gift, but a few years ago, I had arranged to purchase a puppy from a breeder & good friend of mine. We hadn't talked price yet, but I knew her price range as I'd bought a dog from her before. When I went to pick her up, I asked "How much," and she said, very surprised, "Nothing...she's a present." She's now 3 1/2 and is an awesome dog.

  46. Wow, it's kinda hard to remember Valentines Days past! but for our first anniversary (8 years ago) my husband bought me a bike! We lived in a small town at the time and I had mentioned wanting one, but he listened and it was a total surprise. Since the first anniversary is the "paper" anniversary, I named the bike "Paper." I still have it and still ride it :)

GREAT fabric, birds are my favorite :)

  47. Wow, it's kind of hard to remember what I've gotten, but I still love the pots and pans I got for Valentine's Day 8 years ago! I know, not terribly romantic, but I really wanted them and they've held up wonderfully.

    Thanks for a terrific giveaway!

  48. I have to say my favorite Valentines Day gift was one where my husband got up way before I did, snuck out, closed the door, then made me heart shaped pancakes. Then he suprised me with breakfast in bed with a handmade Valentines Day card. That just was the most wonderful thing ever. I still have the card out where I can see it everyday.

Thanks for the opportunity to win one of these wonderful fabrics!

    Happy Quilting!

And even if I don't win, that green/yellow set is PERFECT for a baby quilt I'm about to start!

Thanks so much for the giveaway!

  54. Oh this is easy! I'm a practical kinda girl. I wore glasses for 35 years and hated it! About 10 years ago, my husband bought me lasix surgery for Valentines Day. Odd? Not if you know me. Every day for 10 years, I've woken up thankful that I don't have to reach for my glasses to see what time it is! Great gift!

  55. My hubby isn't particularly romantic or poetic, but one year he wrote me a poem for Valentine's Day. I cried and cried... It was so beautiful.

  59. Oh, My that is a tough question. My husband is such a good gift giver that is tough to choose. I have to say last year when he gave me a new pair of Dansko Clogs. This is so special because I really love Clogs and mine had cracks in them and the other special thing is he is a high heal fan. I felt he really thought about what I would like.

Now he gets my new favorite "Symphony" candy bar for me. This year we are sending the all 14 of our grandchildren a picture valentine. And we are going dancing on Friday to get an early start on our celebration....

  65. As a perpetually single woman on Valentine's Day (such is life), I very much appreciate my friends who give me little things -- a flower, some chocolate, a cupcake...whatever to make me feel less excluded. I can't thank them enough for thinking of me on a day when the world assumes coupledom (I don't mean to sound bitter, it's just not my favorite holiday though friends make it much better than it otherwise would be).

    ReplyDelete
  66. Best gift given was an email I sent my husband of 31 years on Valentine's Day. I listed all the fun places we've been and fun memories we've shared over the years. He replied with some I had forgotten!! Best gift received was for Mother's Day. He took me on a shop hop and bought me a short arm quilting machine and frame at one of the shops we visited! Total surprise!! Kim B. KFB1977@yahoo.com

    ReplyDelete
  68. I love the Boy Chirp. Best Valentines gift, is hard to choose. I've been married 45 years, but I think the best was a set of South Sea Black Pearl earrings. After all these years we usually just exchange a card. I love to give at Valentines, so I usually give something to my adult daughters, this year a scarf.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Back when I was single I got together with my two best friends for Valentines Day. I made a candle light dinner with wine, roses, the works. One friend brought pretty lingerie for each of us and the other brought three boxes of beautifully wrapped chocolates.

We felt so spoiled and didn't feel like we were missing out at all.

Great giveaway, I am CRAZY for the Neutral Chirp.

  70. We have a standing joke that my DH gives me a new Dobie scrubbing pad for Valentines. So I guess I'll say the best gift has been humor. I wouldn't trade him in for all the diamonds in the world!

    ReplyDelete
  73. My husband and I have a tradition where he takes me to KFC every year (yes Kentucky friend chicken)
He hates that place, but I love it, so he takes one for the team and lets us go.

That means a lot, even though it is just greasy fried chicken, it is true love!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Gosh...the best gift ever? I have 2 actually....when we were engaged my husband gave me a beautiful Pearl necklace as a wedding gift! I wear it as often as I can...mostly on Sundays or special dates...but the next best gift was my new sewing machine this year for Christmas! Yep, those are the best ones!

  75. The one I always remember first is from the early years of our army life. We were so broke and I needed a new pair of tennis shoes so bad! My husband had been away training for a month and brought me a new pair when he came home. I have never forgotten that! I can never top my sister though. She has 2 daughters born 18 years apart. Both on valentines day!

  81. For me, I've received a pink handbag from my sister way back in 2007, if I'm not mistaken. That year I really went crazy with pink when my friend at the office was asking if anyone willing to exchange an iPod (she wanted pink0 which our employer were giving out to their staff. I love the memory which the bag evokes.

    ReplyDelete
  82. My dh gave me a beautiful necklace. . . it is called "a journey." He was so proud of himself at the research he'd done and that it signified our journey together. . . . He's not normally a romantic, so just knowing he put so much effort into the thought meant a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Hmm...Best Valentine's Gift...It was definitely when my Hubby got all dressed up and went to Carmine's, our favorite Italian restaurant in Chicago's Gold Coast. The best Italian food outside of Italy! And the atmosphere was perfect. Hope I win those fabulous bundles of fabric.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Best gift, handmade cards from my kids!

    ReplyDelete
  85. My husband always gets up before me, so every year he will leave a card on the pillow next to me. They always make me cry. He always gives me other things too, but none are as good as what he says to me in the cards!

    ReplyDelete
  86. My husband spend hours on this very intricate cutout of a valentine for me a couple years ago. It's still on the fridge..I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  87. My best "gift" was my husband - who is "morally opposed" to Valentine's planning to take me out to the poshed restaurant in town. He failed miserably but he tried v hard. We've boycotted VD ever since.

    ReplyDelete
  88. We don't celebrate Valentine's Day 'round these parts :) BUT! My husband did give me a string of pearls for our one year wedding anniversary this year, and I most certainly cried. Tears of joy, mind.

    ReplyDelete
  89. We're not big Valentine's people in my family but the best gift I have given was the trillion cut peridot necklace I gave to my mom one year for mothers day. She loved it so much she was speechless and almost started crying, and my mom isn't a crier!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Two days after our first date, my now husband sent a dozen roses to my office with a note that said "Still grinning" :)

    ReplyDelete
  91. The best Valentine gift I have ever received was my daughter. She was due on Valentine's Day, but since it was a weekend and I had to have a c-section the Dr said the birth would be on Monday the 16th. I remember joking with the Dr that I might start labor and get my Valentine baby, but like he said, he likes his weekends without having to work too! My Valentine Girl is now 28 and is going to make me a grandmother in July.

  94. The best Valentine's gift I've received was from my husband on our first Valentine's Day when we were dating. It was one of those BIG heart shaped boxes of chocolates from a candy store in town. We were in college, and I know it cost a lot, but every piece was delicious, and I still have the box 18 years later.

  95. "I" am the mushy one in our marriage. We like to RV over America so I already got a card that relates to "the miles we've traveled and yet to cross".

My favorite "thing" for Valentine's Day is not a "thing" at all but the LOVE that is shared. And that love could simply be hubby winking at me or asking me to go to McDonald's for their $1 menu's double cheeseburger because he knows I love them.

Love and simplicity - hubby knows that's what it's about for me.

    ReplyDelete
  96. My best gift was my Mac Book Pro laptop. It was so unexpected and just SO generous!

    ReplyDelete
  97. My most memorable Valentine's Day gift was from my now husband. We had only been dating 5 months but already knew we were meant to be. We went away to Williamsburg Va for Valentines and got snowed in and had to stay 2 more days because of the storm. He proposed to me that weekend with a lovely engagement ring! That was my favorite gift but every year is a gift in itself having him as my soul mate. I am so happy to be celebrating my sixth anniversary with him this upcoming year. Thanks for the give away and even if I don't win it was fun thinking about that weekend! Thanks, Stephanie

  98. A valentine's gift? what's that? but my hubbie did get kudos for my surprise 30th birthday party in which he lured me to a lovely restaurant where my friends were waiting in a private room. that was a *long* time ago!

  99. This may sound hokey, but I love the dandelion bouquets my kids give me in the summer. We've got plenty of dandelions in our yard! Plus, out of my 4 children, only 1 is still young enough to bring them to me! I know I'm going to miss them someday! The best part is putting them in a nice glass vase on the window sill - and then sneaking a look at their smiles when they see it displayed :)

  101. We are not big Valentine's people but I love the little things that show love - like coming home to the dishes cleaned and put away after a full day of work and then a 4hr stats class.
My husband knows that I can have rough days at work so sometimes he will call and leave me a voicemail on my work line just to make me smile when I hear it.

  108. My Husband is my best Valentine gift ever! Valentines is our wedding anniversary. This is year sixteen and counting!

  109. My favorite Valentine's Day was when I awoke on Valentine's Day and made my way to the coffee pot. Lying next to it was a paper towel (yes I said paper towel!) with "Happy Valentine's Day" written all over it and a little package of "smarties' sweet tarts taped to the towel. Now how creative is that?? I know he probably forgot to get something, but the fact that he put effort into coming up with something was priceless! We will celebrate 39 wonderful years of marriage in June! This is amazing, especially since we only knew each other approx 6 weeks when we got married!

Thanks for the opportunity to win yur give-away! Love the fabrics! And thanks to Fat Quarter Shop!

  110. amy, you're so generous! thanks for the giveaway!

my favorite valentine gift was actually a gift from my dad when i was a girl. i had just gotten my braces put on and i was feeling pretty miserable, so he had a bouquet of roses delivered to me at school! it made me feel pretty special. :D

  111. My best ever was an engagement ring :-) And I am still wearing it after 37 years.

  112. After losing a very special dog, my son gave me a coffee mug with a picture of "Oso" on it. It wasn't for any special occasion-just because. It made me cry!

    ReplyDelete
  113. My hubby isn't so romantic to buy a gift for Valentine's day. The best gift I've received in general is a pottery mug from my mom. i use it everyday for my coffee and think of her when i do!

  114. My gift came to me 30 years ago. It was a black an gold scarf my then fiance gave to me. It was during a winter storm so bad that he had to hop on a snow salt truck to get from Yonkers to the bronx. Where he then took the subway to manhattan. It took him half a day to get that gift to me and I still wear it today.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Best gift? Right now I'd have to say the sewing machine my hubby got me the first year we were married...can't remember which holiday. It is old now, and there are lots of features I'd like to have and don't, but its my old workhorse and I love it!

  116. A little crystal duck and boxed long stem roses. There is just something nice about boxed flowers :)

  117. My husband and I aren't gift givers on Valentines Day but that doesn't mean we don't receive. We each buy something that we have been wanting then tell the other what we bought. I usually place an online order for fabric.

  118. My favorite gifts are handmade gifts, especially the ones from my 8 year old. Last year, she made a painted clay flower with a heart on it. She says those are gifts made from the heart and those are the most important. She has so much wisdom for an 8 year old.

  119. A few years ago my hubby gave me a pair of beautiful diamond hoop earrings. The best part was that he got the style right. He made sure they matched the princess cut diamonds in my wedding set and that they were hoops rather than posts as I can't wear posts. I was shocked and very happy. I think I'll keep him :)

  120. three years ago my hubby gave to me a sweet card - within it was written, that I can take 3 days off whenever I like and do whatever I love and he will take care of all the household, our 5 kids and everything else during this time. I splitted it up to 3 different days and really, really enjoyed those times. This was so very special!

  121. Valentines Day is also my birthday! My favorite gift would have to be a hummel statue that my MIL gave me. It has a little girl cutting out a heart valentine. It sits in my craft room and I love to look at it!

  122. Love that Neutral Chirp!CUTE!
Well I have had many wonderful Valentines Days and gifts from my DH. The one we always remember is MY gift to him a few hours before the 14th...our son, soon 33 yrs ago! If he had waited just a few more hours would have been a Valentine's Baby.. we think of him as one anyway! DH brought me a Baby Ruth Bar for my chocolates in a vending machine so we always recall that! Baby and rich in love but money poor!!
Oh those were some sweet days.

It meant so much to me. We've

  126. My favorite would have been a red linde star ring, I got from a boy when I was 17 years old. He had asked what I wanted and my reply was "Saturn on a string". He had attached a string to the ring of course, but the funny part was...I said something about it being red instead of the regular blue, he was SHOCKED!!! He was color blind and had no idea it was red!! Wonder what happened to that guy...some gal got a great one!! But so did I.....

Thanks for the great giveaway and the fun memory!!

    ReplyDelete
  127. My favorite gift would be the Diamond Heart Shaped Necklace my husband gave me a few years back.

    ReplyDelete
  128. My best gift is kinda cheesy. Four years ago my now-fiance had just moved back from Philly and was broke. We had done long distance for the first four months of our relationship. Since he had moved back we had been discussing a puppy.

I met up with him right after work and we went to go look at this adorable fluff ball. We talked about him and went back to get him the next day. Boss, the puppy, was a great addition to our relationship. He had my ring tied around his next when fiance proposed. He's adorable, sweet, and loving like any dog should be. It has also shown me a side of fiance that makes me excited to be his wife and mother of his kids...kids someday.

I'm living 1,000 miles away from my fiance and Boss. It's a great memory especially since I will not see them until April.

  129. I think the best gift I was given was 8 years ago when my husband I were married two days after Valentine's Day. We were married on Feburary 16, 2002 for all time and etenity. Each year we are lucky enough to celebrate both Valentine's day and our Anniversary all in the same week. It turns out that we have a 4 day holiday.

    ReplyDelete
  130. This was an anniversary gift, but the first year after my now-husband and I started dating, he made me a rose out of $1 bills (1 year, 1 rose, $1 bills) and hid it at my desk at work. Once we had a disagreement about who had actually paid for something, and each of us began trying to return the money back to the other. This evolved into a sort of game where we would hide the bills (it was maybe $4) to try to return them, or fold them into elaborate shapes so the other person would feel they should keep them. So this was reminiscent of that, and a sweet reminder of the mischievous playfulness we enjoy together :)

    ReplyDelete
  131. Well, that's easy. My best gift on Valentine's Day was my first child -- my little Valentine is turning 16 this year on Sunday. Thanks for the chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  132. We are always camping on Valentines Day (or right around it) so we usually celebrate around a campfire...There have been a couple years that Hubby has gone to get ice for the cooler and come back with flowers which always makes me smile.

    ReplyDelete
  133. When you are a woman and you are early in a relationship Valentine's Day is such a big deal. But my Hubby HATES it. After a few years I learned not expect anything and have adapted to indifference over the holiday. I'm totally fine with that. But the first Valentine's Day after we got married I came home to an elaborate dinner made by Hubby, complete with chocolate mousse from scratch. Hubby hates cooking as much as he hates V-Day, so this was a big deal.

Come to think of it, he's never cooked like that again in 7 years!

  134. My boyfriend gave me his heart. Aw... Love the fabrics. Thanks.

  135. The best valentine's gift I ever received was my engagement ring! Thanks for the giveaway and Happy Valentine's Day!

    ReplyDelete
  136. My favorite gift was when my husband surprised me with a Valentines Starbucks travel mug, wit a caramel Macciato in it, and a gift card. It was nice that he thought of my favorite drink, and knows how much I love my coffee!! I would take that over roses any day!!

    ReplyDelete
  137. I can never remember what I get! My birthday and valentines are two days apart, so my husband doesn't always come through for both holidays. One year my husband surprised me with dinner out followed by a show with one of our favorite bands!

    ReplyDelete
  138. My four year old is really into Valentine's this year. I mean, really: hearts, pink stuff, lacy and frills, what's not to love from a little girly girl. So, she has been giving me all sorts of hand drawn Valentines. It's the best. Can't wait to see what she does on Sunday when I reciprocate with more than 'thank you' and hugs and kisses.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Oh, gosh, Valentine's Day is my least favorite holiday. My mom used to have to bribe me to do the V-Day cards in elementary school. Maybe if I were a chocolate person, I'd like it better! Best present ever? That's a tough one. Probably my gift to myself of a puppy!

  140. Such cute fabric.

When we were married our first dance was to Truly by Lionel Richy. Last Valentine's Day he gave me a card that when you opened it sang that song.Along with Chocolates and flowers, so very sweet. We have been married 27 years. ^_^

  141. Mine would have to be a dozen red roses - something my hubby doesn't splurge on too often :)

  142. Such adorable fabric!

About 7 or 8 years ago, we made reservations at Finale, an awesome dessert restaurant. They do it up for Valentine's Day, premiering that year's "chocolate plate for two" that will be on the menu from that point forward. RIDICULOUSLY good chocolate, wine, and a nice red dress for me.

Thought he might go cliche and propose that night, but he waited a few more months... :-)

  143. I'm not a big fan of Valentine's day, but I am slowly changing heart.

The first year I was dating my boyfriend, he knew I hated the holiday. Therefore, he found out my favorite holiday(st. Patrick's day) and cooked a meal celebrating that instead. Of course, I did get a box of chocolate, but what girl can refuse that!

    ReplyDelete
  144. The best gift I ever received was a birthday present. For my 30th birthday, my beautiful daughter was born. I was hell bent and determined to have her before I was 30 and she was born the day before, but they still put my age as 30 on her birth certificate.

    ReplyDelete
  145. No way! I was just on fatquartershop.com yesterday looking for fabric and saw the girl chirp line. I wrote it down as a possibility for when I do Baileys big girl room :) I just love it :D
My best Valentines gift was Brian proposing. He had convinced me that we needed to wait another year to get engaged because we had been dating long distance for a year. He wanted me to move to Virginia so we could date in close proximity. I was disappointed but agreed. I flew in from California for a weekend visit and he surprised me with a fantastic dinner at one of an old, historic, hotel. After dinner, he told me he wanted to show me the rooftop deck because the view was amazing. When we got up there, he had roses, petals, and candles all over the place. I was amazed! When I turned around he was on one knee :D Best. Gift. Ever.

  146. I love lilacs, which don't grow very well in the central valley of California because I think they need to get some freezing weather in the winter. Anyway, my husband was doing a kitchen remodel job for someone who actually had tons of lilac bushes in her back yard. He told her of my love for lilacs and she told him to go ahead and pick whatever he wanted. He came home and put them in every vase and canning jar he could find, put them all in my office and closed the door. When I opened my door my office was just glorious. Not only the beauty of the flowers but the scent. So romantic...

  147. Looove the fabrics!!

Best gift I've ever received? It wasn't a Valentine's Day present, but it happened that same month. My cousin made me a quilt, and it was the gift that sparked my interest in learning to quilt - she then taught me how to work a sewing machine, and helped me make my first quilt - I've been hooked ever since.

  157. my best Valentines Day present was Feb 07 and it was my husband. He had to have a 5 way heart bypass on Dec 1 2006 and he wanted to take me out for Valentines Day. Remember he was just recovering. He took me to lunch and during lunch gave me a pretty diamond ring. Totally surprised me and stunned me too when I found out he had been out shopping. He was supposed to be home recuperating. He's just the best.

  160. What an ADORABLE line of fabrics!!

We don't "do" Valentine's Day, either, save for exchanging cards. But my husband puts a lot of thought and care into choosing the "perfect" card and it's always wonderful. I honestly can't think of the best present I've ever received. Anything chosen with love and care is great by me.

  162. Yellow sweetheart roses (back in the day when we were young before marriage, kids and life) Married 33 yrs.

    ReplyDelete
  163. We have never really made a big deal of Valentine's Day except of course when the kid's were home and we made homemade cards for them to take to school, Hubby and I just exchange cards, but the best Valentine that I remember and my daughter cherishes the most is one from her younger brother, when he was about 7 or 8 (they are 22 and 20 now) he made her a big cut out heart and wrote "I love you more than Star Wars!" I still melt when I see that card...that we laminated....on her bulletin board!:)

Happy Vday to you and thanks for the lovely giveaway!

  164. My husband makes me a paper-based something each year, it's our tradition. Last year's was a thread spiderweb with a crepe-paper spider on a heart in the center of the web. Very cool.

    ReplyDelete
  165. A few years ago, my husband planned a secret outing. A month leading up to V-Day, he started giving me clues. It ended up being dinner at a local bed-and-breakfast with my best friend and her husband. It was the best Valentine's Day ever!

    ReplyDelete
  166. We don't really make a big deal about Valentine's Day...not a fan of Hallmark holidays ;-) But my greatest gifts are the notes that dh leaves me...they're on scraps of paper from the recycling box, but they mean the world to me.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Every year my husband gets me a piece of jewelry in a oversized box with a card, last year the box trembled when I went to open it and inside was a tiny ball of brown fluff, we named her Lady Valentina and she is still a ball of fluff just bigger, the gift that keeps on giving...our lovely little pom.

  168. Valentine's day came a few weeks after I met my future husband. He is in the Air Force, but I had yet to see him in his dress uniform. So when I arrived at his house, he answered the door decked out in that incredibly sexy uniform. He gave me a wooden frame that he made himself and then took me to the fair. A great Valentine's Day.

  169. Oooh, Boy Chirp is too cool!!

This time last year, I was recovering from back surgery, and slowly getting back into quilting. I often flip through quilt catalogs and make little wish lists of what I would get if I had the money. Little did I know, my husband had swiped one of these and ordered a bunch of things I had checked! Such a sweet thing, and really brightened my Valentine's Day!

    ReplyDelete
  170. My husband gave me a necklace with a little figure representing each child. It was wrapped in a big box. I pulled a string and one child at a time came out. At the end was the chain to hang them on.

    ReplyDelete
  171. a Lane cedar chest my parents gave me for my 21st birthday - it always brings a smile to my face when I look at it.

    ReplyDelete
  172. My favorite Valentine gift came from my son who was eight at the time.(nine yrs. ago) He gave me a claddah ring, the one with hands holding a heart topped with a crown. He said I was the holder of his heart and the queen in his life and always would be. I have never taken the ring off. I think of the little man he was that day as he has grown into a wonderful young adult. I still hold his heart at this point he sometimes reminds me. But someday I know a lucky girl will come along and she will then be the keeper of his heart. But this will always be my favorite Valentine gift.

  175. Ooh, I love the neutral birdies! We don't do Valentine's Day as our anniversary is 10 days after--so the best present I received for our 9th anniversary was a gold necklace. DH and I had agreed NOT to buy presents that year and then we both surprised the other with a gold chain necklace. DH has never taken his off...Keeper! We celebrate 25 years this anniversary.

  177. I have two favorite gifts...my first favorite gift that I've ever recieved is my engagement ring from my huband..that he gave me 7 years ago on my birthday. He picked it out himself, sold his favorite car to buy it, and I had absolutely no idea it was coming!
My second favorite gift is the emboridery machine that he gave me for our first wedding anniversary. I had always wanted one..and he made that dream come true.

  178. Before we had kids my husband would sometimes paint a small painting for me on Valentine's Day. I really treasure those. Now I make mini quilted hearts for my 3 boys on Valentine's Day. The fabrics are adorable, especially the pinks as I'm the only girl in the house!

    ReplyDelete
  179. These fabrics are so cute! I hope I win! My favorite gift was a big stuffed teddy bear that says I love you!

    ReplyDelete
  180. My favorite thing, hands down, was the birth of my almost-6-year-old daughter!

    ReplyDelete
  181. I don't have a favorite Valentine's gift, but I do have the worst one! When I was in college, but then boyfriend thought that the way to win my heart was to embarrass the heck out of me. He sent a singing telegram to me on campus. I was in a lounge with a bunch of stutdents that I didn't know and this guy dressed in a huge red heart comes in and says my name. I froze and didn't acknowledge the heart in any way. As a matter of fact, I looked around the room like, "Oh dear God! Who is that for?!?!"

Then, one of the boyfriend's friends came in and pointed me out so that the heart could sing to me. IN FRONT OF PEOPLE.

    Horrifying!!! Embarrassing!!!

Needless to say, I'm no longer with that guy and it didn't last much longer after this episode!

And I haven't dated on Valentine's Day since then, so no 'good' presents... :(

Pick me and make up for it! :-D lol

    ReplyDelete
  182. St Patricks is our Valentines since it was our first date...and not so crowded at the restaurants. It always means daisies for me. My DH gave me daisies when we were dating and still does 32 years later and I still love them...and him.

    ReplyDelete
  183. We're not big on Valentine's Day, but my husband gave me a lovely silver bracelet on the first day of my new (well, now five years ago) job and I wear it every day. Looking at it reminds me that he is proud of where I am and what I have achieved.

    ReplyDelete
  184. The first Valentine's Day after we were married I wrapped up a big box of "timely" gifts for my husband and sent them off to work with him. Every hour on the hour throughout the day he was supposed to open the appropriately timed gift. I start at 8 am and ended at 6 pm, with dinner at home. We've been married three years now and he still has every part of the gift (that wasn't edible)! It's fun to look back over the cheesy V-day cards and chuckle at my crazy rhymes -- I do know it went down in (office) history as the best Valentine's gift ever. *grin*

p.s. That was the year Hallmark put out the "thumping heart" monkey. My husband told me later he was a little hesitant to squeeze the monkey's hand in his cubicle, so he took it into the bathroom just in case... Apparently my mischief is well-known by some! ;o)

  185. Oh on our first anniversary my husband went back to the florist and had her recreate my bridal bouquet...stunning.

    ReplyDelete
  186. We do cards for Valentines day but one of my favourite presents is a bouquet of the same flowers I had at our wedding.

    ReplyDelete
  187. When we were dating (I was 16), my husband didn't have any money to buy me flowers, so he hand made a dozen pink and red roses using construction paper. They had stems and leaves and were wrapped in a paper wrapper. It was so sweet! I still have them 21 years later!

  191. Hmmm, I would have to say the best gift I've ever given would be years subscription for the New Yorker to my partner, Alex. Even though it was bit expensive for me at the time, I knew he's really love it, and he really did, so that made me happy! I know...not very exciting.

Thanks for the awesome giveaway Amy!

The best valentine's present I ever received was a hand made pencil holder. My son decorated it in daycare and gave it to me for Valentine's Day last year. I wasnt expecting it at all (usually they make stuff for mom that day) and it took me completely by surprise! I use it at my desk every day.

  195. Hard to decide the best but I narrowed it to two. My children, either born on valentines but I love being a mommy. The one i remeber the most was when my now husband sent me 18 long stem red roses before we were even dating. I had no idea that he knew I exsisted. He didnt sign the card so it was fun to realize I had a secret admirer. When have been together ever since and have two beautiful children together.

  196. my best Valentine's Day gift ~ it was probably about 10 years ago. My husband typed up 8 notes for me & glued a red heart onto each & hid them in the house. Each note was several sentences and corresponded with the place he hid them (note in the kitchen talked about how much he appreciated all the work I do to to keep our family fed...) I knew there were 8 notes, because he'd accidentally left the scraps from cutting out the hearts on the table, but I could only find 7 of them. I was hunting everywhere for the last one (I wasn't supposed to know how many there were, I just supposed to be surprised as I happened across them...) I finally found that last one in my van.
I still have them; I find them, re-read them, and hide them again :-)
