Featuring Casey -- A Blogger's Quilt Festival Quilter!

Hi Friends!  I can hardly believe it's Friday again!  This week has been flown by, and I'm tired.  Ella's been home sick with an icky cold that seems to be going around, I think I will sanitize the house today, don't want it spreading!
Casey is our featured quilter today!  You can  find her blogging Little Adventures over here - I hope you enjoy getting to know her better!

1. When did you begin quilting?
I began quilting when I was 19 after receiving my first sewing machine.  I taught myself by reading books and doing a lot of searching on the Internet.  My first quilt was a twin-sized quilt for my younger brother.  It was a simple 9 patch design and he still has it!

2. Why do you quilt?
I quilt because I love combining different fabrics into something beautiful.  I love giving quilts as gifts because everyone loves a warm cuddly quilt and it's so easy to personalize them.  You can never have too many quilts!

3. What is your favorite quilting tip?

My favorite tip would be to always hand stitch your bindings.  It may take a little time, but it looks and feels so much better than machine stitching it down.  I think the binding really finishes a quilt.  Besides, there is something lovely about sitting with the quilt spread out on your lap, putting the last finishing touches on by hand.

4. What was your inspiration for your Quilt Festival quilt?

I created my Quilt Festival Quilt for my baby girl.  She's baby #4 to join our family and our second girl.  I make a quilt for each of my babies and I had been planning hers since I found out I was having a girl.  I have collected a lot of vintage linens from my thrift store trips and I knew I wanted to combine my favorites into a bright and cheery quilt for my little girl.  I'm so pleased with how it turned out.

5. Do you sew other things?
I love to sew and enjoy making lots of different things for my family and friends.  Just recently I've been doing more garment sewing and I'm having a blast!6. Anything else you would like us to know about you?
Being a mother of four little ones age 7 and under keeps me very busy.  However, I always try to find a few minutes each day to create something.  Those few minutes of exercising my creativity are what keep me feeling like me.  :)

Thank you for sharing Casey

I hope you all have a great weekend~

Let's just say that I've saved LOTS of old blue jeans through the years for a quilt or two *someday* and now seeing Casey's pictures I'm re-inspired to get hopping on them. Besides, I think my husband would be very pleased to get rid of the boxes and garbage bags full of old jeans....

Get better soon at your house! We have some sniffles here this morning but I think it's been from all the outdoors play from a too early taste of spring combined with wearing shorts and flip flops...

I made a denim quilt for my son when he left for college. Now it lives in a lake cabin--the perfect weight for a chilly morning.

The quilt made out of vintage linens is really cute.

What a great idea on how to use old jeans. I once made a bag out of one pair but I still have stacks of old ones stashed away. Thanks and good luck with the young ones.

I so agree about the hand sewing the bindings!
