These are in the order of the comments, I would have loved to alphabetize but who has that kind of time! I did link to Amazon for each of them! It wasn't as much work as you might think, html copy and pastes fast! Now I have a great reference when I need something new and different to read - I tend to get stuck in the same genre or author (Karen Kingsbury lately).
If anyone has more to add to the list I will add to it via the comments - Thanks for sharing!!
Amy
Oh and I left out the vampire books - I don't really do suspense :)

Wow, Amy! Where are you going to start reading? LOL!
Blessings,

Just my opinion here, but skip Running with Scissors. I found it extremely upsetting. I realize it is a true story, but I couldn't take it.
I did not see Same Kind of Different as Me on your list. It is a great book.
So you're saying you don't love the Twilight series?
Snowflower and the Secret Fan
Angry Housewives Eating BonBon's
My two favorite books!
Have you read any other Francine Rivers books besides Redeeming Love? She has a great trilogy called "Mark of the LIon" - the first book is "A Voice in the WInd" - they are really good. Also Liz Curtis Higgs has an excellent series - first one is called "Thorn in my Heart" - they are SO good!
Ok - It would appear that I'm the only GUY commenting on this stream, but hopefully that's ok :) I just wanted to say - I've been reading "The Neverending Story" by Michael Ende and it's awesome! If you've seen the movie, fine - but you must read the book. It's much richer!
See ya,
J
I second many of these {the ones I've read!} Particularly Outlander - the whole series. And The Book Thief was a wonderfully surprising treat!
A couple of others I love -
Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein
The Forsyte Saga by John Galsworthy {great English satire}
Gone With The Wind {who knew!}
I loved The Life of Pi, and Listening is an Act of Love. Right now I'm reading The Zookeeper's Wife, and it's a good one.
I highly recommend "Through Violet Eyes". Couldn't put it down and neither could my husband.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for introducing me to Paperback Swap! I can't believe I hadn't heard of it before, but it's AWESOME!!!
Tried your Alfredo with Brocolli and Chicken tonight. Was yummy! Added cauliflower too! Very yummy! Lots left over for lunch this week :) Thank you. I think I'll try the first book and will work my way down the list. Like you I don't do suspense. I'm terrible!
Thanks for this great list Amy! I just joined my local library, because my book shelves runneth over, so I figured perhaps I should start borrowing them from the library instead of buying more. The problem is, where to start, sooooo many books in the library. I'll take your list with me next time I go.
My suggestion for your list is "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert. I LOVED this book and it now ranks as one of my all time favourites!
Here's the amazon link for you:

wouldn't it be neat if we could come up with a swapping system....since we all have read these books and are probably done with the one we have, and then want to read someone else's book, it would be nice to just kinda swap & share!
Thank you Amy! I no longer feel guilty about the stacks of as-yet-unread books next to the bed, since your list is even longer!
I use Swaptree to trade books and have had good luck with it. Will add lots of these to my "want" list!
What a dear you are to post this list! I'm printing it out to keep in my tote. May even laminate it, as I love the word of mouth.

Thanks so much for posting the list!! After commenting I had meant to go back and make my own list from those comments - so you saved me a bunch of time! :D
Thanks bunches Amy, I will favorite this post for future reference.
I forgot to also add this to the list of great books I've read, my daughter had to read this in an Eng lit class at WVU last year...
http://www.amazon.com/Glass-Castle-Memoir-Alex-Awards/dp/0743247531
The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls...it is a memoir of her life with very eccentric wandering parents...it is an amazing story and she has a new one out called Half Broke Horses: A True Life Novel about her maternal grandmother and it looks to be just has good...I bought it for my daughter for xmas and I am just dying to read it but I'll wait until she does!:)
Thanks again for linking them all up!!!
I've read a few of those books and have even more from that list on my hold queue at the library! Thanks for the suggestions--I'm always looking for more books to read!
Your list is as long as mine. Now if I could just make more hours in the day for my reading. Oh well. Someday!!! Love & blessings from NC!
I have been reading for about 7 years non stop and I haven't read any of these and only heard of a few. I guess I need to update my reading list.
So which one are you going to try first? I HIGHLY recommend the Birth House. It was soooo good!
Maybe every time you start a new book, or finish one, you can let us know what you thought of it. We could do a read along, so to speak!
Great list Amy, and I'm please my suggestions made it here! I forgot to mention 'The Piano Teacher' - gret read. Would warn anyone reading The Lovely Bones to grab the tissues, very moving not one for anyone who may be grieving a lost one though.
wow...that's quite the list! I see that no one suggested My Sister's Keeper and The Secret Lives of Bees (the movie on this one was really good, so the book must be awesome!)
I think I'll add some - if you don't mind!
SHOGUN by James Clavell
Atlas Shrugged by Ann Rand
A Time to Kill by John Grisham (way better than movie)
Lords of Discipline by Pat Conroy
I'm going to check out some onyour list. I'm reading Twilight now and like you, I'm not into vampires, but it is OK - not don't want to put it down, but ok. ;-)
The only recommendation I really disagree with is Edgar Sawtelle. It's really not well written. It's a re-telling of Hamlet. A far superior version is Undiscovered Country, by Lin Enger: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Undiscovered-Country/Lin-Enger/e/9780316006941/?itm=2&USRI=undiscovered+country
Okay, definitely scratch Edward Sawtelle and Running with Scissors. Definitely add My Sisters Keeper, actually all of Jodi Piccoult's books and The Glass Castle, what an amazing story and writer!
I'm going to love investigating these books for my Kindle, because most I've read and loved and others are new, *love* recommendations from people with common interests!
Boy, you've got a great list there! I think almost everyone in our bookgroup threw Running with Scissors against the wall -- I didn't finish it, but everyone seemed to hate it!
Oh....and I just noticed the comments above mine LOL -- I loved Edgar Sawtelle -- to each his own I guess!
Okay...Amy, you AMAZE me...how do you have time to read between caring/cooking/cleaning, etc. for your family and sewing your beautiful quilts/crafts. :-)
Hmm, have you read The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini? I love that book. The movie pales in comparison, I couldn't put it down 'til I finished it. This coming from a person who normally does those horror novels :0) I think it's a real eye-opener for people about the Middle East and speaking up when you should. It was such an easy read as well.
Thanks for doing all that work! I'll have to look up some of those!
Wow! That's a huge list of great books! I'm almost done with my current read then I'll take a trip to the library! Thanks for sharing, Amy!
As a fully committed reader myself, I'm celebrating your great list! :)
Here's another one to add to your list:
My Sister's Keeper
By Jodi Picoult
Here's a classic I really liked:
"The Good Earth" by Pearl S. Buck -such a great read!
