Sewing Garments!

I have two quilts due in a six weeks, but I've been promising dresses to my girls!  So my goal for this week has been to cut and start (maybe finish) three dresses!

I am a sucker for patterns when Joann's has them for $1 - we just happened to be there on one of those weekends a few months back, and I had the girls pick out patterns that they liked.  I am able to steer them toward quick and semi- easy patterns still :)  which helps!

Yesterday I finished cutting out the third dress and applied the interfacing needed, then set to work with the smallest!  I have three different patterns, so I'm taking them one at a time.  Here's the bodice to Sophia's dress --

I will share pattern details next time - I need to get it finished!  The fabrics are Nicey Jane - and so cute!  I'm hoping to add the sleeves and skirt later tonight, I'm excited to finish :)

Today I'm going to share my quilts with Emily's quilt guild!  All of them are quilts that you have seen here, nothing from my book - don't worry :)  I'm looking forward to meeting Emily - we've been blog buddies for a year and a half now, and finally meeting!

I hope that you are having a good day, what are you up to?

What a fun little dress! I used to sew all my kids clothes before they learned to get dirty. Which that was pretty much when they started to walk. It was fun, but I do love quilting more.

Oooh Nicey Jane is definitely perfect for dresses!

I too tend to take a little detour from whatever I'm working on! I'm working on a queen quilt and have a king lined up... and yet I'm toying with the idea of making a couple baby quilts in the meantime. Oh boy lol

Love the dress! I'm working on a Christmas table topper - should have it together today. Many Blessings!

Smile. My mother sewed all my school dresses (we weren't allowed to wear pants) when I was growing up. You are making so many wonderful memories for your girls :)

The dress will be darling! Cute fabric, too. I'm trying to get to work but I got all these social network sites to check on! hehe

I made that same dress for my girls' Easter dresses last year. It is super cute. Love the fabrics you are using!

Fun times! I used to sew all my DD's dresses too. She learned to sew making shorts. Have fun at quilt guild!

Oh Amy that looks so cute, can't wait to see them all done up. I can't sew garments to save my life. Not that my boys would appreciate it if I could, lol....enjoy the guild visit!

I haven't sewn any garments in many years, since I was a teenager. (I used to sew a lot of Barbie clothes too!) These dresses for your girls sound so fun to work on. Love the look of the first one so far. Good luck at the quilt guild!

i love making garments for little girls, am in the process of it at the moment. Sweet fabric you chose, and I'm with you, when patterns are on sale you can't pass them up.

I love these! Maybe you can post them tomorrow for sew & tell!!! :)

I just finished up fixing a skirt for Alison, made some zipper pouches and I'm getting ready to cut out some bags.

OH, and unrelated to sewing, I went through all the baby girl clothes I have yesterday to see what I'll be able to use - soooo, maybe I'm nesting?

I am all about making dresses right now! So you need to share what patterns you used and if they were easy or not, so I can add them to my list. I have several unfinished quilts that I need to work on, too!

It's beautiful! That does not look simple at all! Your girls are gonna love their new dresses made by you!

Oh, I can't wait to see the finished dresses! I just finished some burp cloths and a cute little pillow for my niece who was just born yesterday! I recently picked up some super cute fabrics in pretty greens and yellows, and I'm thinking I want to make a cute, ruffly apron out of it. When is spring break?

Lucky you I don't have a little girl to sew for, I just have two 3 year old grandsons but they aren't quite as fun to sew for. The patterns for little girls are so cute, I will be waiting to see them

I have all boys and they are just not fun to sew clothing for......so I keep making them quilts instead, smile

I wish I had a little girl to make clothes for, my mine are grown up. I do want to make my own clothes though, but never see patterns I like, so thinking of making my own patterns from my favorite clothes.

Gorgeous! Note to self: speak to daughter and son about the possibility of a grand daughter!! My scrumptious grandson would not appreciate a frilly dress (I don't think).

The dress looks great. I need to take some time to make one for my daughter.

clothing intimidates me. I have a cute pattern for girls pants and shirts and some adorable fabrics for it and a pattern for a dress and the fabrics for it that I LOVE but can't get myself to do it! now quilting, strait lines, 1/4" seam, no problem!!!
