Challenge Week

Hi there!  I took a day off, just didn't have anything worth saying! :)  Thanks so much for all your great ideas for naming my quilt.  I think I have an idea decided on, but want to give it a few more days to make sure there's not a genius idea still out there :)

I really enjoyed being challenged a couple weeks ago, and have decided to issue you a challenge!  Once a month, we will have a Challenge Week.  You decide on one thing, one thing, you want to challenge yourself with for the week, tell me about it in the comments, and one week later I'll have a linky so we can check out each other's projects!  I might have to work out a prize too - give you a little more incentive to get you motivated.

Next Tuesday, July 20th will be the beginning.  Then on the 27th we will share our projects!

I really want to emphasize the one thing aspect - so often I get (and I know I'm not alone) overwhelmed with how many things I need to do and don't start ANY, so this will be a jumpstart!  Cut out a quilt, piece a top, or finally finish that binding, whatever you have on your list that you just can't seem to get started, or finished as it may be!

I know that when I did a survey a while back lots of you expressed needing help getting motivated to finish things, and last week when I asked how many projects you have in the works, many of you were a bit shocked to have actually counted them.  So hopefully this is just what you need!

What do you think?  are you in?
Hope so!  I need a challenge :)

I've lost count of my WIPs at 18...This is just what I need. I'm going to get my black and white top together! It's a quilt for me (which in 12 years of quilting I have never managed to do) and so it just always gets put on the back burner. Thanks for the challenge!

Sounds like a great idea! I am feel abit overwhelmed at the amount of the things I have on the go and by the sheer amount of beautiful projects on offer at any given time! It is insane!

I'm in! I'm really good at getting started, not so good at the old perseverance and finishing though - atcually now I think about it I'm like that in lots of aspects of my life :)

I'm in! I've got a quilt I've been working on for about a year now - it would be nice to get it done (working on is actually incorrect - it's been sitting in a bag under my sewing table for about 6 months now!)

I'm in also. I am working on two quilts that I have been dragging my feet on because I can't decide what sashing fabric I want to use. I guess I only have a few days to mull over it now :)

I'm finishing up a binding now and only have 1 more quilt wip to finish, my other wip's are just pillows to match the quilt I'm binding right now.

I have a quilt I've been really wanting to make for a friend, so I just need to get motivated to cut it all out, so that I'll get on the ball and quilt it.

So funny how just before I read this post I was longingly thinking about the wonky pinwheel quilt I cut out in march and still have not even pieced together.

I'm so in! Accountability is my #1 motivator...well, that and spite, but that's a story for another day :)

I was just rambling off my list of sewing projects that need to get done to my hubby the other day. This challenge will definately keep me on track...thanks!

I have almost finished piecing a quilt for my bed so my goal is to finish piecing it and sew the blocks together for a finished top. Thanks for the challenge!

My one thing for this week will be designing a new quilt top. I'm stretching myself to only work with solids AND to work with colors that I don't really think 'go' together well. We'll see how it turns out ... could either be genius or a huge flop. I guess there's only one way to find out :)

How about a button to go with your One Thing Challenge?!

What!?!?! you took a day off!! that can't happen Amy!...lol...I am so in for the challenge week, I know just what I am putting up!

I agree with Wendy Lou, We need a Button!! I wanna go straight over to my blog and write something about challenge week!

Can't wait to see what everyone will be working on and their progress after a week!

I like this idea, and I really like that it's just one thing. I'm so overwhelmed by everything I want to get done.

I'm in ! I have many projects to finish and to start AND in my 'head' for gifts ! ! AND I am supposed to be completing alot of them BEFORE my daughter goes back to school at the end of August because I'm the grandkid - sitter 3-4 days a week so will get NOTHING done then ! I'm not as organized as all you young mothers !!!!

Okay, I'll take the challenge to pick a ufo and for a week see if I can make some progress on it.

Thanks for the motivation.

i love this...great motivation ...and so much better to pick one thing, get it done then move to the next...its overwhelming how many projects i have...i still can't narrow it down...but thats because i have the 'have to' and the 'want to' ... i have to quilt the 2 baby blankets for my group...but i want to sew the jumper for my daughter...i cut it out last summer, hopefully i chose a big enough size that it will still fit this year!

Oh I am so in! It helps a TON if you have prizes too :D I mean who doesn't like to win things???

When I was looking at your quilt it reminded me of face paint or crayons.... so my NON-brilliant idea is crayon mix. Very pretty though!

What a wonderful idea. I have a number of unfinished designs; quilts I designed and to be honest, I really enjoy the designing and making the top-need someone else to finish it...LOL! Guess that sounds familiar, eh!
