Blogger's Quilt Festival - Spring 2010

Welcome to the third Blogger's Quilt Festival!  I'm so glad that you are here - and I hope that you plan to enter a quilt in the Festival!  Everyone is welcome to participate, this is a relaxed festival with no judging, no gloves, and beverages are allowed, encouraged even!  :)

Many "Thank You's" go out to our sponsors!  They have been fun and gracious to work with in the weeks leading up to today.  And the prizes they are offering are so generous!  Be sure to visit each of the shops as you enjoy the show.  They each have a button to the right, and I have a list of prizes below the entries.

I have been so thankful to have my laptop while getting the details together this time around and I cannot wait to sit on the couch and take in all the inspiration!  I hope you have a comfy seat too - this may take a while.

While you are blog hopping - let me know if you see a quilter you would like to see featured on my blog.  I plan to continue the Friday features after the festival and always need more nominations!

Are you ready!?

To Participate : :
1 - Write a new post (old posts will be deleted).  Share one quilt, and it's story.  Why you made it, why it is special to you, what you learned about quilting/yourself while making it.  The quilt doesn't have to be brand new, never seen before on you blog - show what you like!

2 - In your post link back to the festival (posts without a link will also be deleted).  You can do this with a button, just copy and paste the code into your post, if all else fails.

3 - Share a link to your post, in the mr linky - be sure to post to that specific post please.  Right click on your post title, to copy link address, then paste it in the linky.

4 - Leave me a comment to be entered into giveaways.  Maybe you can tell me approximately how many quilts you have made so far.  Or if you finished a quilt just for the Festival.  Or how many quilts you have on your to do list.  It's fun to learn something about you as I read all the comments :)

5 - Visit all the other quilters sharing their quilts and be inspired!

6 - If you are on flickr, consider adding your entry to the Group Pool, it's great to see all the quilts in the gallery.

Please do not link up if you are not posting a specific quilt, also linking to etsy/ebay shops is not allowed. I reserve the right to delete links that are not within the guidelines above. Thanks!

If you happen to add an incorrect or dead link, please look for the smiley face next to your name/link and click on it, follow the instructions to delete the link and then post the correct link.  If all else fails - email me :)

The Fabulous Sponsors --

**But wait -- there's more!**

Thank you all for making this event a huge success!
-----

New button code -

this links back to this post instead of the info page.  Use it where ever you like!

-----
The Festival will be accepting links through next Friday, the 28th.  After that the linky will be closed and the links made permanent on this post.  Giveaway winners will be announced the following day.

I think that's everything!  I hope you enjoy the show :)

Amy

I have linked my entry to the Blogger's Quilt Festival as directed. I've been waiting all day to post about my favorite quilt. Thanks Amy for the chance to share my Sylvia's Bridal Sampler quilt. I have many more that are still UFO's because I really worked intently on this quilt. I completed over 17 quilts last year, but my UFO's number in the hundreds.

Hi Amy, I am new to blogging but have been quilting for almost 30 years. When I saw your post earlier in the week, I was so excited to join this. Last night I remembered I could get my post together and then publish it first thing this morning before I went to my volunteer job. I didn't have to wait another day! YAY!
Thanks for doing this. It looks like FUN!
I'm off to save the world, one critter at a time. :-)

So excited to be a part of this again! Thanks so much for all your hard work getting this organised. Have been racing to finish a quilt in time to include, so now I am going to take a deep breath and settle down to look at all the gorgeous quilts as they get added!

myBearpaw said...

Too excited to read things properly. I think I must have made 40 - 50 quilts over the last 18 years - that doesn't seem very many compared to some people!

Emma said...

I'm in again! I've made 120 quilts and have about 30 currently on-the go, partially-designed, or waiting their turn - most of which (plus a number of new additions) should be done by the end of the year.

Trish said...

This should be fun. Have links set up, let's hope it works.

Lynne (Lily's Quilts) said...

Thank you Amy. This is really fun and is my first because I only started quilting in Feb so I am a baby but here's a festival where the remedial quilters like myself get a chance to sit alongside the royalty of quilting which is really cool. My favourite quilts are the ones that get properly used - dragged around the house by the kids, dragged into the garden to make a tent, slid on down the stairs, occasionally weed on (you know kids...). Now I am going to take my laptop into the sunny garden (rare for the UK) and take a stroll around the festival. Maybe see you there for a cup of coffee!

I'm so excited- my first quilt festival! I've done my post and I can't wait to see the festival exhibitors! Thank you Amy.

Thanks for hosting this again - great fun! It's not only fun to consider what I've made up that's meaningful, but also to realise how little I've actually finished this year (I guess it has really been about the process!)

CraftyMummy said...

Thanks for organising the BQF! This is my first time entering.

I've just finished this particular quilt but I have made around 10 quilts. I currently have a couple of tops waiting to quilt, a jelly roll quilt half pieced, and 2 baby quilts in progress as well. My list of quilts I want to make is long :)

Steffi´s Candy Quilts said...

Thank you Amy for doing this festival, it is always so much fun to see all the wonderful quilts.
Until now I finished around 15 big quilts, several wall hangings and pillows, and some very tiny quilts in 1/10 scale for my doll´s house.
And of corse I have a lot of UFOs. :-)

Mary said...

Hi Amy - First, I just want to say, "thank you" for once again putting this fabulous event together - I stayed up until midnight and then realized - duh! You're on MDT, not EDT - lol.

How many quilts have I made? Probably around 50. How about the "to do" list? Probably 30 (and I've probably already got the fabric for most of them - yikes!)

Amy, Thanks for holding such a wonderful festival. Love to look at all the quilts!

I have written my post, linked it, and now I am going to go and see and read about all the quilts of the others'! Thanks for your work again, Amy!

I haven't finished a new quilt for the Festival, but am sharing an old favourite :-) Recently I was working on a present for my sister, a bag, which can be seen in my blog.

Have a great weekend!

Valentina said...

Dear Amy, I only started visiting blogs a year ago, around the time you had the first BQF, and I was dazzled! Now a year later, with a fairly new blog, I cannot describe the thrill of being able to Thank YOU, and to be able to contribute my 2 cents.
I started quilting when we moved to Cyprus, as I could speak no Greek and was in a general state of shell-shock! And quilting slowly passed from being therapy, to being a way to make friends, to the point that now I teach patchwork and quilting at the island's only QS.
I have made many quilts, most of which have been gifts to loved ones and charity quilts. These days I hand-piece as it is more manageable with 3&4yr old boys! THANKS 4 Being such an INSPIRATION!

Thanks Amy!!! Posted mine. Now going to see all the others!

Hi, Amy! Thanks for organizing this! I wish I could tell you how many quilts I have made, but I have lost count!
I am looking forward to seeing everyone's quilts and reading their stories.

Nadine said...

All these wonderful blogs. thanks for organizing this Amy.

And as to your questions: I can't remember how many quilts I made, maybe around 20 or so, and given that they are all reversible quilts these days they should count twice, shouldn't they?

I am working on about 5 projects at the moment, as I do everything by hand the quilting takes me ages. But I have already cut the fabric for the next 2 quilts. It's an obsession that's for sure.

Hi Amy! I'm so excited to be involved in the Blogger's Quilt Festival! It's one of the reasons I started a blog this year. Thank you so much for such a wonderful festival! I have submitted a piece that has never been shown on American soil and holds dear memories for me.

I have encouraged all my readers to make time to curl up with their laptops to enjoy this literal feast for the eyes!

Again, thank you so much! I know the work that goes into such an event, online or not, and I appreciate all that you have done and continue to do!

This quilt is super special. Our DD#2 is at long last going to have a baby .... she just turned 35 and was told she'd never have a baby.

Button is on my blog. I did Mr. Linky.

Gosh I have no idea how many quilts I've made. I'm a charity quilter so I donate many quilts each year.

Thanks for hosting this, again, Amy. Very generous of you.

This is my very first entry into the Festival, thanks for having me!

Thanks again Amy, I've just posted my link. Had a hard time deciding which quilt. Working on an appliqued crib bumper at the moment. The quilts have been put to one side until the bumper gets done.

Just linked my quilt to the festival. Love this!! I think I have done about 8 quilts (small ones so I can do the machine quilting myself). Almost done with my next one using Heather Bailey Nicey Jane fabric. Just couldn't get it done in time.

Thanks for hosting!!

Amy, Thank you so much for this festival! Last year, the festival inspired me to start my own blog. I've made about 15 quilts since I started quilting 7 years ago. I'm posting a quilt I made this winter. Thanks again! Lauren

And, again, I managed to mess up my link - if you can delete my first link that would be great. The second one works fine :)

Amy, I have been inspired by the blogger's links on your old quilt festival posts for a long time, and I am very happy to be part of one this time around! I have been quilting since I was 20 with my mom. I made my first quilt on my own when I was 22 years old, a log cabin. I still have that quilt and it is on my youngest son's bed. My entry to the festival is my second quilt I made on my own and it resides on my bed. I took a long hiatus from quilting while my kids grew up, but when my oldest went to college, I heavily got into it. I have so many flimsy's ready to quilt now, the quilting is my least favorite part! Karin

Thank you so much for this, Amy. It is awe-inspiring!!

I've only completed three quilts, all of which have been given as gifts. One of these days, I will actually finish one that stays home with me!

I love the idea of having hundreds of quilters sharing inspiration! I've only been quilting since November, and only had my own blog since April, but it's nice to know that there are people who are just as passionate about weird things (like fabric and quilts) as I am! Thanks for creating the Festival!

I'm thrilled to be a part of this...and to see all the gorgeous quilts! Thanks for all of your work in coordinating this and to all of the sponsors.

Thanks for putting this together, Amy! I can't wait to go through the links one by one and see all the lovely quilts.

I've finished about eight or ten quilts and probably have about six quilts in various stages of construction going on right now.

What a great list of giveaways your fabulous sponsors have donated! Fingers crossed!

Thanks for doing this - it's my "FIRST TIME" putting one of my quilts out there. I liked the mental exercise of choosing the quilt and the why's behind the choice. Since my Bernina is out of service, this was a nice way to still enjoy quilting!

I am currently only in the middle of two quilts. However I am needing to make 4 soon. I have a friend who is having a baby any day now, plus I promised my children I would get their quilts made.
My daughter's is one of the top that is finished. It needs to be sandwiched, quilted and bound. However, I am no longer in love with the quilt and not dying to finish it. Which is probably why it has been sitting for four years! :P
Thank you for organizing the Quilt Festival. I love it!

HI Amy,
The festival is off to a great start- I know that there will be lots of wonderful quilts to see. This is the third time I have entered a quilt and it always is a great opportunity to meet new bloggers who share a love of quilting.
Thanks for all your hard work organizing the festival.
Warmest regards from Western Canada,

Thanks so much for hosting this great festival! I love to see what other quilters are making and be inspired by their work. I've been quilting for a long time, but every day I find something new on flickr to inspire me and make me want to start a new project!
