Blogger's Quilt Festival - Spring 2010

Welcome to the third Blogger's Quilt Festival!  I'm so glad that you are here - and I hope that you plan to enter a quilt in the Festival!  Everyone is welcome to participate, this is a relaxed festival with no judging, no gloves, and beverages are allowed, encouraged even!  :)

Many "Thank You's" go out to our sponsors!  They have been fun and gracious to work with in the weeks leading up to today.  And the prizes they are offering are so generous!  Be sure to visit each of the shops as you enjoy the show.  They each have a button to the right, and I have a list of prizes below the entries.

I have been so thankful to have my laptop while getting the details together this time around and I cannot wait to sit on the couch and take in all the inspiration!  I hope you have a comfy seat too - this may take a while.

While you are blog hopping - let me know if you see a quilter you would like to see featured on my blog.  I plan to continue the Friday features after the festival and always need more nominations!

Are you ready!?

To Participate : :
1 - Write a new post (old posts will be deleted).  Share one quilt, and it's story.  Why you made it, why it is special to you, what you learned about quilting/yourself while making it.  The quilt doesn't have to be brand new, never seen before on you blog - show what you like!

2 - In your post link back to the festival (posts without a link will also be deleted).  You can do this with a button, just copy and paste the code into your post, if all else fails.

3 - Share a link to your post, in the mr linky - be sure to post to that specific post please.  Right click on your post title, to copy link address, then paste it in the linky.

4 - Leave me a comment to be entered into giveaways.  Maybe you can tell me approximately how many quilts you have made so far.  Or if you finished a quilt just for the Festival.  Or how many quilts you have on your to do list.  It's fun to learn something about you as I read all the comments :)

5 - Visit all the other quilters sharing their quilts and be inspired!

6 - If you are on flickr, consider adding your entry to the Group Pool, it's great to see all the quilts in the gallery.

Please do not link up if you are not posting a specific quilt, also linking to etsy/ebay shops is not allowed. I reserve the right to delete links that are not within the guidelines above. Thanks!

If you happen to add an incorrect or dead link, please look for the smiley face next to your name/link and click on it, follow the instructions to delete the link and then post the correct link.  If all else fails - email me :)

The Fabulous Sponsors --

**But wait -- there's more!**

Thank you all for making this event a huge success!
-----

New button code -

this links back to this post instead of the info page.  Use it where ever you like!

-----
The Festival will be accepting links through next Friday, the 28th.  After that the linky will be closed and the links made permanent on this post.  Giveaway winners will be announced the following day.

I think that's everything!  I hope you enjoy the show :)

Amy

Yay! I was able to finally finish my post for your amazing Quilt Festival! (I am slow! :o)

I am excited and look forward to visiting as many wonderful quilters as I can.

I need your help...I linked up directly to my blog instead of my post...is there any way to fix that? I'm #626

Blessings & Aloha!

This was a great idea! I'm so glad I was able to participate this year. My grandmother was a quilter and I'm just praying that I can one day be as good as she was!!

I have only made a few quilts, nothing bigger than toddler/lap size, though I have a twin size rag quilt that needs finishing!

Oh, I'm excited -- I thought I had missed the deadline and so didn't even think to enter. I was wrong, happily!

Thanks for hosting this. It has been really interesting to read about other people's quilts and the stories behind them. In my opinion, it's the stories that make the quilts so very beautiful....

Just tonight, I finished my 7th quilt top! I started quilting December 2009! I only have 2 tops created that need to be quilted & bound & 2 baby quilts that are just waiting for some TV time for me to hand sew the binding to the back. I absolutely love this form of creative expression! Thank you for hosting this festival & opening my eyes to so many wonderfully talented people out there! :)

Thanks for hosting this really cool festival. I love making scrap quilts, probably because I have been quilting for a long time (how many quilts - no clue , but more than 50) and there is so much fabric in my house. Certainly enough for brand new scrap quilts for the next decade´s quilts festivals...

Thanks so much for creating and hosting this amazing space! I look forward to finding new inspiration and spending A LOT of time staring at my computer screen. Just started quilting last summer and have another free summer filled with quilty plans. Hope to complete a quilt a month.

I love the quilt festival! I have probably made a dozen or so quilts, but I have quite a few I am working on or have plans for making. I enjoy seeing all of the quilts and being inspired by the stories that go with them!

Amy - Thank you for organizing this! It has been such a delight to see everyone's creativity!

Oh, great idea, thanks Amy! It is wonderful to find so many people charing one's interest, isn't it? Now I must take time to read all the blogs.

Amy, thanks so much for hosting The Blogger's Quilt Festival... it inspired me to start a blog!! Hope you enjoy it. I've been quilting since 2005 (when I got my first sewing machine). So far I am entirely self-taught, but plan on taking some classes soon. I also have never used a pattern for any of my quilts... I made them all up.

Thank you Amy for organizing the Blogger's festival for third time!

I have entered every time! I was out of town, but better late then never , right?! :)

I should count how many quilts I have made! Currently I am working on two baby quilts for a friend of mine and for my nephew. Also I am working on quilting my blue and yellow quilt that I have been piecing a long time.

Have a great day Amy and i hope everybody is getting over that flu!

Thanks for hosting this! I think I've made around 20 quilts. Its funny -- when I was trying to figure it out I was basically listing my friends' kids names to myself. Mostly baby quilts and about 5 twin sized quilts and about 5 picnic quilts.

Marie said...

Thanks so much for hosting -- I've enjoyed every quilt so far -- it's going to take months to visit them all....

toodles!

What a great idea! Thanks for hosting this. I'm new to quilting, but not fabric so I'm thrilled to have a new way to maybe make a dent in my stash.

Nothing like waiting till the last minute -- but I have posted a quilt and linked. Thank you for doing this -- so many gorgeous quilts to be seen!

I wasn't planning on entering but decided to at the last minute. I really love the quilt I entered. I had so much trouble making it that I really love it now. Thanks for hosting!

I just linked up! Right now I have one quilt on the go and two waiting to happen (one has been waiting for 3 years!!) but other things always seem to get in the way :)

PersimonDreams said...

Thanks so much for doing this again! I'm pretty sure I've entered all of them and just love it! Hmmm...how many quilts have I made - probably in the 50s range - most likely more. I've had two babies and for the nesting portion I quilt instead of clean :) Very productive :)

Thanks again!

Thanks for hosting Amy! I've seen so many great quilts...I decided to enter one of my own, even though I haven't finished very many. Thanks so much!

Amy! What an awesome job you've done, again! I wish I had my quilt finished, I'm so close. I just have to stitch on the binding. I have pics of my mom's quilt that she's finished. Maybe I'll try and get a post up about that. It's gorgeous!

The move is over and we are now camping out at my in-laws until we can move into our house, about 10 days from now!

Here I am!! Sorry I'm so late- just squeaking in under the wire! I have been looking through the blogs and entries, though- what a wonderful group of talented people!

Hi Amy! I'm late to the party as usual... but I showed up! I have about 25 projects going right now... I won't allow myself to have any more because I'm out of baskets to store my projects in! Looking forward to seeing all the quilts in the festival!

Sooz said...

Thanks for walking me through entering this Festival. I'm so glad I did! I've been quilting for good, long time, but discovered the Modern Quilt bloggy-world about a year ago, and I'm hooked. I'm a novice at blogging, but determined to shake my Luddite tendencies. Sometimes I get frustrated because I spend time figuring out the bloggy bits, time I could be quilting! But the inspiration and community I've found here is more than worth it. A friend told me that one of the first communities "built" when the Web started were quilters! Now I can't wait to continue poring over all 700 other entries. Keep up the good work, Amy. And thanks.

Hola, Amy!

I posted my Quilt and a link. I think the fan quilt that I posted is the hardest one that I have done so far. Right now I am working on two baby quilts using the Love U panel from Moda.

Amy I have been reading about everyone's quilts and will continue all weekend. I love seeing others work and the great stories behind them. Thank you for putting this together!

I left a comment, but it doesn't look like it made it, if this ends up being a duplicate...please delete me!

Amy I have no idea as to how you are going to read all these comments, much less visit all the entries! I just entered, unlucky number 666, with only 6 hours left...don't like those numbers! Oh well, what is a girl to do.

I finished my quilt with two of your wonderful tutorials and wrote about it in my entry! Thanks so much!

Hi Mrs. Amy :)

I jumped in here at the last minute and posted my favorite quilt.

I'm excited to see all the participants. I will have to refer back several times to stop at everyone's posts and admire their work.

Thanks for the fun :)

Smiles,
Kelly

This is a great event...I think you just gave me homework, though, I'd love to figure out how many quilts I've made, I'll work on that. I must tell you though, that I work on MANY at a time. My in progress list is always over ten! But I'm trying to get better at finishing them more before starting new ones.

Amanda Conger said...

I love watching the numbers on this post tick up! I've been planning to finish this quilt in time for the festival for ages and I *just* squeaked in. It's gift and I've avoided mentioning it online AT ALL before now, so this is it's grand debut. I am ridiculously excited and so happy to be part of the festival again. : )

I'm a new quilter and it's amazing to see how many other quilter/blogger/moms are out there. I was working on a quilt for my mother-in-law when I saw your link yesterday, so I exhaustingly finished the quilt today just so I could join. Thanks so much for the work you do with this and I look forward to joining (with a little better planning) next year, too!

This is my first entry in any quilt show ever, so thanks for hosting. I can't wait to go looking at all those quilts.
I've made about 20 quilts/wall hangings/table runners, have 4 in progress and have been distracted along the way by numerous bags, wallets, dolls, toys and crochet. I'm truly addicted...

I got in just under the wire!! I have about 10 sets of quilt blocks that are all waiting to be sewn into quilt tops, including my blocks from every quilting bee I've participated in. Crazy, huh? I really hope to tackle those in this calendar year.

Thanks again for hosting yet another successful BQF!!

This is my first festival! Thanks for hosting such a fun event. As far as my WIP go, I have too many to count and all of these fabulous quilts are only going to add to my list!

Hi Amy, The Blogger's Quilt Festival is a wonderful idea. This is the first one I've "been to". I have set myself aside some time each day to look through all the interesting blogs and be inspired by all the beautiful quilts.
I can see I'll have to make a blog of my own one day soon.

OH! I just found this festival today, so I missed out on posting mine, but I will be sure to join in next time! Love all the quilts I have seen so far!

Just wanted to give a late shout out and THANKS for once again hosting this festival! I participated in the last two but was working on a deadline so didn't get to post this time.

However, I still wanted to SEE EVERYTHING! Today I just finished looking at the last of the 677(!) entries. I've spent the last month taking them 25 or so a day (interrupted only by a week's vacation) stopping here and there to follow leads to other great quilty stuff.

As before, I found a lot of great new blogs to follow, a bunch of new project ideas and even voted on my favorite postings and added them to my quilt journal for inspiration. I look forward to when you do this again in the fall or next spring and hope to participate then too. Thanks again for all your efforts!
