Blogger's Quilt Festival - Spring 2010

Welcome to the third Blogger's Quilt Festival!  I'm so glad that you are here - and I hope that you plan to enter a quilt in the Festival!  Everyone is welcome to participate, this is a relaxed festival with no judging, no gloves, and beverages are allowed, encouraged even!  :)

Many "Thank You's" go out to our sponsors!  They have been fun and gracious to work with in the weeks leading up to today.  And the prizes they are offering are so generous!  Be sure to visit each of the shops as you enjoy the show.  They each have a button to the right, and I have a list of prizes below the entries.

I have been so thankful to have my laptop while getting the details together this time around and I cannot wait to sit on the couch and take in all the inspiration!  I hope you have a comfy seat too - this may take a while.

While you are blog hopping - let me know if you see a quilter you would like to see featured on my blog.  I plan to continue the Friday features after the festival and always need more nominations!

Are you ready!?

To Participate : :
1 - Write a new post (old posts will be deleted).  Share one quilt, and it's story.  Why you made it, why it is special to you, what you learned about quilting/yourself while making it.  The quilt doesn't have to be brand new, never seen before on you blog - show what you like!

2 - In your post link back to the festival (posts without a link will also be deleted).  You can do this with a button, just copy and paste the code into your post, if all else fails.

3 - Share a link to your post, in the mr linky - be sure to post to that specific post please.  Right click on your post title, to copy link address, then paste it in the linky.

4 - Leave me a comment to be entered into giveaways.  Maybe you can tell me approximately how many quilts you have made so far.  Or if you finished a quilt just for the Festival.  Or how many quilts you have on your to do list.  It's fun to learn something about you as I read all the comments :)

5 - Visit all the other quilters sharing their quilts and be inspired!

6 - If you are on flickr, consider adding your entry to the Group Pool, it's great to see all the quilts in the gallery.

Please do not link up if you are not posting a specific quilt, also linking to etsy/ebay shops is not allowed. I reserve the right to delete links that are not within the guidelines above. Thanks!

If you happen to add an incorrect or dead link, please look for the smiley face next to your name/link and click on it, follow the instructions to delete the link and then post the correct link.  If all else fails - email me :)

The Fabulous Sponsors --

**But wait -- there's more!**

Thank you all for making this event a huge success!
-----

New button code -

this links back to this post instead of the info page.  Use it where ever you like!

-----
The Festival will be accepting links through next Friday, the 28th.  After that the linky will be closed and the links made permanent on this post.  Giveaway winners will be announced the following day.

I think that's everything!  I hope you enjoy the show :)

Amy

Hi Amy! I came across it from a friend and am so excited to get in on it. I'm so looking forward to all of the inspiration I'm sure to find perusing the festival blogs! I still consider myself new to quilting, but I do have three quilts in the works and a bazillion more in my "to do" file! Thanks for hosting this fabulous festival1

oh my gosh, this is such a success. I can't wait to visit even more of these blogs.

I have no idea how many quilts I've made. I do try to document each one, but am finding that I've not been doing all that well. The one chosen for this Festival somehow missed so I will be doing up documentation for it tomorrow. Glad you helped me to catch that lapse.

Thanks Amy for organizing this fun.

I am excited to be able to share with you my favourite quilt. I have made quite a few ... well over 200 and this one I am submitting always makes it to the top of my favourite's list. Thank you for hosting. I have really enjoyed connecting to the others blogs and admire the great work which is being done in the quilting world!

This is my second time entering a quilt into your online quilt show. The quilt I am showing is going to be show at the International Plowing Match Quilt Competition next weekend in Shedden, Ontario, Canada. Thanks for hosting the online show again. Always lots of great quilts to look at and blogs to read!

I think there's been an error with my previous two comments, probably because I primarily use Firefox for my main blog and was logged in on Internet Exploder for my quilting blog. So this one links to my main blog, but there's a link in the sidebar to my quilting blog, plus I'm #401 on the list.

This festival is a fantastic idea and I'm so pleased to be joining in! I've been quilting for three years now and sew everything by hand, although I do plan to learn how to use a sewing machine sooner or later.

Dear Amy, thanks for organizing and hosting such a wonderful virtual festival! I'm new to it, first time I've heard of it and first time I'm participating. I've finished 14 UFO's earlier this year, and currently I'm working on log cabin blocks for 2 lap quilts. I hope I've done it right, the links and all that, I mean... :)

This is an amazing response! So many lovely blogs to visit and such great community. Thanks. A few years ago, I took pictures of all my unfinished projects. They totaled 45. I have finished a number of them and added a few. I think I am at 35 now so making some headway.

When I got on yesterday to link my post the linky wasn't there and I was so bugged that I had missed out! There was even a message that said the entering was closed. Okay, maybe I somehow got onto a previous years? Then it said you weren't accepting any comments - I really think my computer was messing with me because all is fine this morning!
Thank you for all your hard work in hosting this festival.
Can't wait to sit back in my recliner and see everyone's quilts.

Thanks for organizing this - and keeping it going for three "seasons". I've been quilting for about five or six years, and I've found that quilting can serve as a form of therapy. It's certainly done more for my mental health than just about anything else I've tried! That's actually how I chose my entry - the quilt that got me back on the path to happiness.

Hello Amy!

This is completely awesome, what you have here. Holding an online quilting festival is too cool!

This is only my second quilt, and I'm super proud of it. I already have three more quilts I'm working on (one pattern does three quilts at a time), and have ideas for at least 4 more in my head. I can't help but get excited! Holding back from starting them all is a hard task!

Blessings to you for all the time you devote to hosting the Quilt Festivals. I just love them and am honored to be a part of a fast growing festival.

Browsing through all the quilters' links gives me such incentive and inspiration. There is so much amazing talent in this world.

Blessings to all those who participate in this fun event.

Hi Amy,
I did 2 things wrong. First I posted my comment before I made my post. Second I posted the link to my blog instead of the blog post for the festival. Sorry for the inconvenience, and hopefully one day I will get this blogging, and computer thing learned. I am a self taught quilter for about 3-4 years now, and have been blogging since Sept. of 2009.
Thank You for hosting this.
I love your blog.

I seem to give all my quilts away - I have MS - so it take me a while to to make them - cutting is a big challenge from a wheelchair - I do qults for kids and it seems like every time I get any other quilt made there is someone in the community that is in need of comfort, so I make arrangements to have it delivered - quilt making is my ministry

This is amazing! What a great response this season :)

Let's see...this quilt was my 4th or 5th completed, and I currently have 7 (7?!) quilts in process. I have recently joined an online quilting bee, which has proven to be both a great creative outlet and a source for new ideas and techniques. The quilting blog community never ceases to amaze me :)

Hi Amy,

Can't believe I stumbled upon your quilt festival. What a great idea! My entry is very understated. I do hope people enjoy it. Not the traditional quilt but still a quilt that took a lot of time. Thought I would go for something different to the usual colourful cotton quilts.

This is so fun to participate in! A couple of interesting things about me, one that may set me apart from the 'main stream quilters' and another that shows how ________ (insert word here- i.e., crazy, nuts, impatient, etc) I am.

First, I am a man... A few male quilters out there, but not many in comparison. And second, I wanted to join a virtual quilting bee, couldn't find one so I ended up starting 3 and then joining 2 more all in the same month. Crazy is probably the word you would choose, right? :)

Hi, Amy! Thanks for doing another festival. It's always so much fun to flip through everyone's links. :)

I've made probably somewhere around 2 dozen quilts. Most of them are baby quilts and I only have 1 of my own quilts in my possession.

The quilt I entered (the Bastille Baby Quilt) is a quilt I made a few months ago for my soon-to-arrive nephew. I'm currently working on a quilt-along using the pattern I made for the quilt.

The quilt I've had in my WIP pile the longest has been there for 6 years. It's for my friend, Michael. For whatever reason, I just can't bring myself to finish it. The top has been finished on it for about the whole 6 years. I just can't finish it for some reason.

Thanks again for the festival!

Thanks for hosting this again! I'm 39 and have been quilting seriously since I was 18. Before that it was just occasionally helping my mom cut patches for the quilts she hand-pieced. Last year I made a dozen baby quilts and around half a dozen bed quilts. All the baby quilts have been delivered, and half the bed quilts donated to local agencies. Sometimes I think I need more beds!

I'm leaving a comment for Denice's Day. She was having a problem linking up, so I helped her. Hope it worked. Isn't this a fun festival!

Congratulations on another successful Festival Amy! How many quilts? Over one hundred if I'm counting, but don't ask me to show them all! LOL Still have way too many on the 'to do' list, my head is brimming! And with more than 20 tops waiting to be quilted, and another 20 on the go, I guess I have a few more to go yet! All the more to choose from for the next Festival!

I think I missed commenting! Thank you for hosting this great event again. I know it takes a lot of work!

Hi Amy, thanks so much for hosting this; it's so cool looking at everyone's quilts and reading their stories. I have just put a quilt up and linked to this site so I hope I got it all right!! Fingers crossed!

I am having a great time looking at all the quilts in the festival. You are so awesome to put this together. I finished a quilt in time for the festival. It is a charity quilt, the first of many. I plan to make and donate 40 quilts by my 40th birthday. Wish me luck!

I'm a new quilter--I have one mini quilt finished, have two in progress, and have many more in my head. I'm a little overwhelmed by all the entries, but am inspired by what I've seen! :)

Thanks so much for the opportunity to be included with all these inspiring quilting talents. It's fun to look at all the amazing quilts out there. Thanks for bringing us together, Amy!

I currently have 3 quilts in various stages of completion and more ideas only on paper. I know my quilting to-do list will only get longer as I enjoy seeing what others have made!

I was so excited to finish up a custom quilt in time to put it in the BQF!

I don't have too many finishes under my belt (10 or so?) - would love to quit the "day job" so I could do more!

I am excited to finally be a part of this festival. Thanks for everything. It was so much fun to share my Moda Challenge quilt and remember all the fun my friend and I had as we worked on them.

Hey Amy!
Thanks for all of your hard work putting this together. It's one of my favorite events in blogland! When I first started my blog the end of last summer one of the first things in blog land I did was join in on the fun at your Fall BQF. I love discovering new blogs to read!

Thanks so much for hosting this great festival. Seeing everyone's quilts rounded up in one post is so great, and has already provided so much inspiration (and I've only viewed a tiny fraction of all the wonderful entries!).

I love the idea of this quilt festival and am glad to be able to join in. I'm a busy mom with 6 kids who quilts in her spare time for sanity. I've been quilting for about 10 years, since I had my first child and I love it. Thanks again.

Never enough time or energy to make all the quilts in my brain. Thank you so much, Amy ... you provided me with tons of inspiration and eye candy. I guess I must get to that unfinished pile 'o quilts; Wait until you see my Hippo!

How wonderful that so many people put up prizes for the fastival. I can't even begin to count how many projects I have going right now. Some of the things I have currently in process are: 15 table runners due by 7/10, a book bag for a little girl's b-day and 2 giant You Go Girl bags by Tammy Tadd that I'm working as well.

I just love this Blogger's Quilt Festival. I'm new this year, so I posted an older quilt. Next year I will make one just to show off for the festival. Hmm...now what to do?

Brooke said...

I'm a little late joining in on the fun, but I keep reading about everyone's quilts and really wanted to show my latest finish. I have a tendency to start quilts more than finish them, but I'm trying to follow through a little better. Thanks for hosting this fun event!

Hi Amy,

What fun this is!!! I'm a little late, but not too, I hope! I loved sharing my quilt and story on my blog. I've been quilting for years, and have made dozens of quilts, with dozens more in the works. Seems there is always a new quilt to make, doesn't it?! And I am inspired by so many quiltie peeps out there. I love to get my quiltie mojo going by spending time blog-hopping or on flickr. Yummy yum yum Thanks so much for hosting this! xotammy

This is too much fun. I have no idea if I'll get to even a decent portion of the other blogs, but I'm going to give it a shot. Thank you for organizing this. And thank you for the chance to win such fantastic prizes - as if finding new blogs to watch isn't enough!

Well, I finally did it! Thank you, Amy, for putting this together...what a wonderful way to show and tell with so many others!

I have been quilting a while, but mainly for pleasure and a way to escape. Sometimes, I can turn a little revenue over. My problem is that I allow myself to get distracted by my stash wall, & then have a hard time seeing all my quilts through to their logical (useful) conclusions! There must be a dozen uncompleted quilts in my closet (in various stages - tops only, sandwiches with some quilting, sandwiches w/o quilting...). But, it is always fun to plan a new quilt, right?

2010 found me promising myself to finish off my stack of begun projects, and limit myself in the creating dept until I get all else under control. Ha, good luck to me!

Thanks again for the opportunity and the fun site!

Oh my goodness! Over 600 quilts to look at for inspiration! I am SOO excited. I have already seen a couple of beautiful quilts that have the wheels in my head turning! Thanks for a great opportunity to share and inspire!

My entry was my 50th quilt that I made. My first quilt was for a baby and my 50th for a young lad. So far, I've made 78 quilts with the last one made for a child as well. Quilts and children go so well together.

It is amazing the number of bloggers who have participated this year. Bravo to you for organizing this event!!!

My favorite quilt is ALWAYS the one that I'm working on. And since they almost all get donated to charity...I've learned to love them and leave them in a hurry. But I always know that my love, my heart and the work of my hands, goes with each and every quilt...so no wonder each one is my favorite!!!! I've included my links in my latest post with a photo of my latest quilt...a combination of styles and liberated free-pieced back which I named What Kind of Quilter Are You? as in goes along with a fun description of all of the parts of ourselves as quilters that make up who we are! And you dear, Amy, seem to pull all of us together, several times a year in a fun and awesome way!

Heidi said...

Thanks for doing this. I hope I did everything right :-)

This is so cool! The quilt that I linked for the festival is actually my first quilt ever- and I just finished it this morning! I guess you could say I finished it just for the festival- I was motivated to finish it by tomorrow at least just so I could share it! I already have a second (baby) quilt sandwiched and about 1/5th quilted- I'm addicted! Thanks for hosting this festival- it is so neat to see all the beauitful quilts, marvel at the creativity and skills and reading all of the stories behind them!

I feel like I have a lot to learn!
Thanks again!

Thank you so much for this opportunity to share our quilts! I started quilting when I was 19 and have no idea how many quilts I have made throughout my lifetime. I have made and sold several quilts and given many away. I have 4 quilts that are mine but they are made with blocks that I have swapped with friends. I have never just made a quilt from scratch just for me. Maybe I need to do that. My granddaughter has 9 quilts and she is only 6!! I learned to quilt through my grandmothers and love everything about it!
