My little Sassy Tote. It measures 9" wide and tall, and 3" deep. With 2 interior and 1 exterior pocket.

I think my favorite feature is the outside pocket - I'm limiting my keys and phone to this pocket, so I can always find them.

It's a fast bag, all rotary cut pieces, and goes together quickly - especially with all the measurements given now.

Sew & Tell

I spent Wednesday - sewing! I didn't do any dishes, laundry or vacuuming until after 4:30pm! Yeah, the place was a disaster between the kids and all my threads, but I was smiling. As has happened often, I had an idea for a bag that was keeping me awake, needing to be made. So I got busy!My little Sassy Tote. It measures 9" wide and tall, and 3" deep. With 2 interior and 1 exterior pocket.
It holds all that I need it too, but hopefully I won't loose stuff in it. Can you tell that's been a problem lately!?
Pretty prints on the back -- I love the Amy Butler Love prints!

Sew-n-Tell

Happy Friday! My friend Amy and I decided to save up our finished projects for a Friday reveal - she has a Mr. Linky up for you to join in and share your finishes with the rest of us too!

Not that I would have been able to post anything earlier! We have had a busy week getting ready for school . . . well child checks, immunizations, school shopping and trying to sleep and sew a bit too :)

My first finish is the sample bag for my LQS - Seasons of the Home - I should have taken a picture of it hanging with my pattern at the shop when I dropped it off today. Next time! I had the kids with me and we were on our way to the outlets for new shoes :)
The fabric line is Lily Pond by In The Beginning - It's cute and really soft!



With the extra backing/binding fabric from my zig-zag quilt I made a quick skirt for Ella. Great fit with no need to alter it for her! It goes past her knee too, so it will fit for a while - hopefully :)
Hem detail -- This skirt was so fast! I could have been done in an hour, if I had elastic on hand (never), I used princess seams to hide all the unfinished bits and the hem is a band added with princess seams, and top stitiching to finish it off nicely. Maybe a tutorial is in order - what do you think?


Finally - A Notion Or Two blocks for Sarah! I managed to squeak out 6 blocks from the fabric that she sent -
Aren't they fun!? 6" squares using 1 - 1 1/2 " strips - can't wait to see this one come together.

Pattern Winners!

I feel like the winner! Thank you so much for all your kind words about my pattern - I'm excited to see where this goes, and my head is swimming with more ideas. If only I could find more sewing time!!

I would love to see all the various prints and batiks in this bag - you all have some great ideas. I think that may be my favorite part about the bag - the ability to mix and match, and make it personal.

I can't believe I've finally pulled this pattern together! I am so excited to tell you that it is in my shop right now for sale! And, I went to get interfacing at my LQS earlier - they want to sell it too! And maybe make a class out of it! I wasn't even trying to market it there yet, I had the kids with me, and thought I would come back when I had my act together :)

New Handbag

Yesterday I cut out two bags :) It was a good day - and that was before noon! After bedtime I managed to put one together, the other is waiting patiently for a bit more free time.


Do you recognize it? It is the same bag I've been playing with for a while now - this version had been taunting me last week, when I had no time to sit down. Do you like this version!?


I had to add the touch of pink! The other bag I cut had lots of extra fabric, so I added the pink/gray panel. This bag has no quilting and I used fusible fleece for the first time - Love it! I need to go browsing for closures - any suggestions?

Happy Day!

Earlier this week I made use of the gift certificate my sister gave me for my birthday. Isn't she sweet!?
I've been watching Wildwood since Market, loving the cool colors and graphic design. The bag I have loved for a while and so I thought I would do a crisp, modern bag - because you know I need another! :) No chance for a giveaway with this one!

The yard sale this morning was decent, slight chance of rain for the morning, but I did manage to unload $60 worth of stuff. Pretty good considering I don't hang on to much for long - no space to collect here :) The last hour has been full of big lightening and crazy winds - my girls are busy inside with a fort today. I even moved the couches around for better fort building!

I hope you are having a good weekend! I need to get back to my quilt-along quilt, hopefully I will have a top before the weekend is over :)

A Lesson in Patience

This past week I've been waiting. Not all that patiently I might add - you could ask Joe, he's a good sport - thankfully :)

To ease my impatience I set to work to make a new bag for myself! There's nothing like a new bag, to hopefully welcome spring sooner than later. . . we seem to be having a bit of a thaw at the moment here, but the piles of snow are not fast to melt.

I had won fat quarters of Anna Maria Horner's latest line Good Folks a while back, and Beki's pattern for the Short & Sassy Handbag - put them all together - and whalaa! A new bag that makes me smile :)

Beki's pattern was simple and fun to create - if your in the market for a new bag or a great pattern check out her shop!

Work in Progress

I had my next bag finished - but it did not look good =( I tore out two seams and now trying to figure out a different way to finish it. I had previously thought that working with cotton would be much simpler than the raw silk - wrong!I really love the fabric so I will finish, but I may need to work on a quilt that is in my head for a bit. . .

It is raining, really raining here. No kids outside, or walks today - bummer. Ella began quilting a dolly quilt this morning. She lost interest pretty quick, but will work on it soon again. I told her she is going to be a great quilter when she gets bigger, since she is learning all the stuff I am just figuring out now!
I had given her some scrap strips and she put them together for a simple dolly quilt - more on that as it is finished up.

New Listing

So I finally got around to making another bag to put in my shop! It has been on my brain since I made the original, but other items have seemed more important. I have one more cut and ready to sew just need a few hours - it is from the posh collection. So more to come, but for now the kids are calling!

Mama's Got a New Bag!

I can't believe it has been a week since I told you about my bag experiment! It has been a bit busy around here with warm weather, (we hit 73!!!) being outside with the kiddos. Love the sunshine! Today we had our first official Thunder Storm - a good 25 minutes of grumblings. When we first moved here nearly 6 years ago - I was so frightened by these storms. I am happy to say that I was cheering for the rumble today - it is so amazing to think of how these storms are orchestrated. Wow!

On to my bag! I have determined that this will stay with me and not go in the etsy shop as my iron left a stain - you probably won't be able to see it but I wouldn't want to sell it. . .it is kind of casual but made with raw silk so not at the same time. Little pin tucks adorn each side and the yo - yo adds a bit of color. It is a little slouchy which is fun but has a good bottom so it shouldn't spill out. My idea is to make more yo yo's and interchange them depending on what I want it to look like. I put a buttonhole in the back of the yo-yo and put the button on before I finished the bag. So the pink doesn't always have to be.


So what do you think? I would like to think that they would sell in my shop - but there's no guarantee there!

Happy Day

Hi again! Our date night last night was great! Park City in April is very quiet, (ski bum, USA) so many of the nice restaurants put 2 for 1 entree coupons in the local paper, and we ended up at Ghidotti's. It was a very nice dinner, with excellent service - we were one of three or four couples the two hours we were there, like I said very quiet. Joe and I had a nice time just being together and enjoying a bit of peace without our lovely kids. Owen did great without me, but was super excited when I walked in the room, and then he tested me all night, making sure I was still here. =) He's a sweet, and smart little guy.

The last few days my sewing machine has been calling out to me. So, I pulled it out again, I sew at the kitchen table. I had made a few sketches of bags a while back and decided to see what I could come up with. Bear in mind - I have never made anything without a pattern, and I don't really sketch. I was actually quite pleased with myself as I turned out two complete bags in one afternoon. I am not going to post pictures yet, but in good time, my friend. It would seem to me that I am actually gaining creativity reading blogs and perusing flickr , not only creativity but also confidence in my abilities. I am pretty excited about all of this.
