Collection of Thoughts

I've felt a little absent this week...seems I have needed a little time off the computer.  Big surprise there!  I guess I feel a bit of a let down after the big push for the Festival - I'm glad every week isn't like that, but it is fun when it comes around :)

Did you add your quilt from the Festival to the flickr pool?  It's nice to see them all in one spot, but I'm still planning to get around and read all of your stories that go with them.  I made a mosaic of just a few of the submissions to the Festival last week.

1. Flower Power, 2. 100_3808_edited, 3. my sister's quilt, 4. Scrappy Log Cabin, 5. Zen Mini Quilt, 6. It's done! Community Gardens, 7. the storyteller, 8. Alex's quilt, 9. Turtle quilt, 10. Wheels Quilt Front, 11. Roots, 12. Fortune Cookie Quilt, 13. 9x9x9, 14. Old Friends are the Best, 15. "Hope Grows" quilt @ lovely bud, 16. Bloggers Quilt Festival - Pixelated Colourwheel, 17. lantern festival w beanie, 18. whimsical garden, 19. Close up of Matryoshka Quilt, 20. "Sea Glass" -- front, 21. Shoofly, 22. Star Bright Top, 23. Dude, Where's My Quilt, 24. Out of Line quilt front

Created with fd's Flickr Toys

It's amazing to see them all together like that!  If you are on flickr and didn't add your quilt yet, you still can - I just added mine yesterday.

**Also!  I will be selecting new winners for the people I haven't heard from yet - you snooze you loose!  Our sponsors are anxious to ship their wares, and I need to get things all wrapped up.  Sorry!  Look for a post later today with that exciting info.

Hugs,
Amy

    Last Call!

I can hardly believe it's been a week!  The week has been so full, with the festival and all of the usual family happenings.  Today is the last day to add your link to the list.  I hope you got your quilt finished up, or figured out all the linking - again everyone is welcome :)

The Quilt Festival post is here, it has been moving down my page.  I will announce winners over the weekend, and will need the winners to email me (too much to coordinate!) so be sure to check the list for your name right away!

With over 600 quilters on the list, I'm going to be working my way through the festival....eventually!  Thank you all again for sharing your quilts and your stories with us all - bloggers are the BEST!

Have a great weekend everyone ~

    Update & Thanks!

As of this morning there are 572 quilts entered in our Festival!  Amazing!  There's still time if you have been working on a finish, or working up the nerve to participate.  Everyone is welcome, no matter your style or skill level.  We would love to see your quilt - please go write a post and link up!  The linky closes Friday, midnight, then will be permanent links on my post.

A very sweet blog friend sent me this gorgeous fabric care package -
Thank you Terri, your gift made my day!

I'm slowly working through the links - we've had a nasty spring cold in the house.  I keep thinking today I/the kids will feel better, but it's not happening...yet!  Time to sanitize the house again.  I checked with the pediatrician's office earlier, we just need to wait it out at the moment.  Need to get some more OJ :)

I hope that you are well and blessed~

    Spring Quilt Festival

Like most of you, I've spent a good amount of time thinking which quilt I wanted to post for the festival.  There's a number I really wish I could share, but that will have to be at a later date :)  In the end, I decided to post my Hunky Bars quilt, it is simple, yet beautiful and well loved in this house!
I had drawn a quick sketch of this quilt months prior to making it, and so when I was finally able to make it, just because, it was really refreshing to make.  This was one of those quilts that just needed to be made, I have a few more like that, and a few bags too!  I hope to get to more of them in the coming weeks.

For me, this quilt reinforces the thought that I've shared here before:  "a quilt doesn't have to be complicated to be beautiful and well loved".  I hope you agree :)
While making it I photographed the entire process so that I could make tutorials for here, lots of pictures later you can pretty much learn to quilt right here!

It seems like everyone is enjoying the show, if you have any troubles with the Linky, let me know I'm happy to help!

Thank you so much for posting and participating~

    Blogger's Quilt Festival - Spring 2010

Welcome to the third Blogger's Quilt Festival!  I'm so glad that you are here - and I hope that you plan to enter a quilt in the Festival!  Everyone is welcome to participate, this is a relaxed festival with no judging, no gloves, and beverages are allowed, encouraged even!  :)

Many "Thank You's" go out to our sponsors!  They have been fun and gracious to work with in the weeks leading up to today.  And the prizes they are offering are so generous!  Be sure to visit each of the shops as you enjoy the show.  They each have a button to the right, and I have a list of prizes below the entries.

I have been so thankful to have my laptop while getting the details together this time around and I cannot wait to sit on the couch and take in all the inspiration!  I hope you have a comfy seat too - this may take a while.

While you are blog hopping - let me know if you see a quilter you would like to see featured on my blog.  I plan to continue the Friday features after the festival and always need more nominations!

    Are you ready!?

    To Participate : :
1 - Write a new post (old posts will be deleted).  Share one quilt, and it's story.  Why you made it, why it is special to you, what you learned about quilting/yourself while making it.  The quilt doesn't have to be brand new, never seen before on you blog - show what you like!

2 - In your post link back to the festival (posts without a link will also be deleted).  You can do this with a button, just copy and paste the code into your post, if all else fails.

3 - Share a link to your post, in the mr linky - be sure to post to that specific post please.  Right click on your post title, to copy link address, then paste it in the linky.

4 - Leave me a comment to be entered into giveaways.  Maybe you can tell me approximately how many quilts you have made so far.  Or if you finished a quilt just for the Festival.  Or how many quilts you have on your to do list.  It's fun to learn something about you as I read all the comments :)

5 - Visit all the other quilters sharing their quilts and be inspired!

6 - If you are on flickr, consider adding your entry to the Group Pool, it's great to see all the quilts in the gallery.

Please do not link up if you are not posting a specific quilt, also linking to etsy/ebay shops is not allowed. I reserve the right to delete links that are not within the guidelines above. Thanks!

If you happen to add an incorrect or dead link, please look for the smiley face next to your name/link and click on it, follow the instructions to delete the link and then post the correct link.  If all else fails - email me :)

    The Fabulous Sponsors --

    **But wait -- there's more!**

Thank you all for making this event a huge success!

Blogger's Quilt Festival - Are you ready!?

I'm getting closer :)  I wanted to share a couple of thoughts before Friday gets here.

    1. The quilt you choose to share, doesn't not have to be brand spanking new!  Nor does it have to be perfect - there's no judging here.

    2.  Put aside all your negative self-talk and enter!  Everyone is welcome, regardless how long you have been quilting or blogging.  If you are new it's the perfect time to get to know a few friends!  Just do it - don't be intimidated :)

    3.  A new post dated the week of the festival is required - schedule a post for the 21st or later but don't plan to post a link to an old one.

    4.  Get ready to spend the weekend online!

    5.  To enhance your "blogger" profile check out this post to make sure your email is attached to the blogger comments that you leave.

    6.  I know I've said it before, but did you put a button up!?  The code is in my sidebar or on the BQF page.

    7.  I registered #bqf on twitter a couple weeks ago, if you plan to tweet about the event please use #bqf so everyone can find the tweets easily.  I plan to share links to great entries :)

Any Questions?  Check the BQF page or leave a comment on this post ~ I'm excited!
    Amy

PS - Amy @ Patchwork Folio made the graphics for me - aren't they great!?
    Thanks again, Amy!

    My List

My must do list, continues to grow and shrink!  Never seems to go away though.  I know I'm not the only one  with this issue - am I?

I have two additional quilt tops pieced for my book, need to add borders to one and get them to Natalia, so she can work her magic!  So my list this week includes prepping the backs and writing the rest of the patterns, and all that goes with those.  (I'm loving my new pins!  The little patchwork set are so teeny and work great!)

I'm also making plans for the next installment of Blogger's Quilt Festival - facebook friends were telling me yesterday if they have a quilt ready.  Do you!?  I'm getting things together for the end of May - I'll let you know when we can start spreading the word.  It's going to be great!!

Have you heard about Fat Quarterly?  A few friends have been working on a new ezine, due out later this month.  Don't miss out!

We had a great visit with my parents last week - oddly I didn't pull out the camera at all!  I just enjoyed our time.  My mom and I went down to Joann's one afternoon and took in a good sale.  They had McCall's patterns for 99 cents - hard to beat that!  Mom got a few patterns to sew dresses for my girls, I found a cute pattern for myself, and machine needles.  We also spent an afternoon on Park City's Main Street, and another in the swimming pool.  Owen has NO FEAR -- it's great to watch him love the water and really take to it.  The girls love the water too, but at 2 years they all had a little trepidation, now they are all fish :)

That's all I got for now.
    Blessings~

Featuring -- Blogger's Quilt Festival Quilters

Hi there!  I've been mulling this idea over, and I'm finally just going to do it.  No time like the present!   There are 683 quilters listed from the fall festival  and I would like you to nominate your favorite quilt, most touching story, or your best friend!  (anything goes!)  Go look through the links again and let me know who you would love to hear more from!

    Here's what I need --

    Email me - amy1399@gmail.com
In the subject write - Feature Nomination
And tell me their entry number, why you would like to have them featured on my blog, and any specific questions you have for them.

I will make my way through the emails, and get all the details sorted out!  I hope that this sounds like fun, and encourages even more to participate in the festival this spring.

Today is my Emmalie's 6th Birthday - we are baking and wrapping for the family party planned later this evening!

    Blessings~
    Amy

ETA -- I hope to make this a weekly feature here, so there's no deadline for nominations - in fact the more the better!

    Quilt Festival Winners - Housekeeping

I have heard from some of you, but if you have not received your prize - please email me or leave a comment! I would love to help get things squared up for you :)

I also want to let you know that this pattern is still available in my sidebar - I had to update it this morning when I realized that I had left out the strap measurement! Oooppps - If you did not get an updated pattern and already purchased it please let me know, I will verify and get it off to you right away!
My little Sassy Tote. It measures 9" wide and tall, and 3" deep. With 2 interior and 1 exterior pocket.

I think my favorite feature is the outside pocket - I'm limiting my keys and phone to this pocket, so I can always find them.

It's a fast bag, all rotary cut pieces, and goes together quickly - especially with all the measurements given now.

    Blessings ~
